The Digambara Ideal: Possessing Nothing

The Digambara monks of Jainism provide one of history’s most striking examples.

“Digambara” means “clothed by the sky.”

For these ascetics, nudity symbolizes complete freedom from attachment. Clothing is considered a possession, and possessions create dependence.

The ideal is not exhibitionism but radical simplicity.

The message is:

If spiritual liberation requires letting go of attachment, then even clothing may become unnecessary.

A Digambara monk’s nakedness is therefore intended as a declaration that nothing material defines him.

Naga Sadhus and the Renunciation of Identity

Among certain Hindu ascetics, especially Naga Sadhus, ritual nudity represents a similar principle.

A Naga Sadhu seeks to transcend ordinary social identity.

Clothing normally tells society who we are. It marks class, occupation, gender roles, wealth, and cultural affiliation.

By abandoning clothing, the ascetic symbolically abandons these labels as well.

The naked body becomes a statement:

I belong not to society but to existence itself.

In this philosophy, prayer is not communication between a social identity and God. It is communion between consciousness and the divine.

Ancient Greece and Truthfulness

The Greeks associated nakedness with authenticity and excellence.

Athletes competed nude because the body itself was considered worthy of admiration and because competition was connected to religious festivals honoring the gods.

Although Greek religion was complex and varied, the broader cultural connection between nakedness and honesty influenced later spiritual and philosophical traditions.

To stand uncovered was sometimes understood as a symbolic rejection of deception.

For many believers, sacred clothing serves the same spiritual function that ritual nudity serves for others: it helps shift attention away from ego and toward the divine.

The difference lies in the symbolism.

One approach says:

“Remove everything.”

The other says:

“Wear something that reminds you of the sacred.”

Both seek transcendence, though through different means.

The most enduring spiritual lesson is not necessarily about clothing at all.

Across cultures and centuries, the recurring idea is that genuine prayer involves stripping away illusion.

Whether a person kneels in elaborate ceremonial robes or stands alone beneath the sky with nothing on, the spiritual challenge remains the same:

To approach the sacred without pretence.

To abandon masks.

To let go of status.

To stop performing.

And to encounter the divine as honestly as possible.

In that sense, the deepest form of nakedness may not be physical. It may be the willingness to stand before ultimate reality with nothing hidden inside.

Exploring mythological examples where nakedness is connected to power, vulnerability, blessing, or divine encounter, both Duryodhana from the Mahabharata and Achilles from Greek mythology are interesting cases. However, neither story is really about prayer; they are about the relationship between the body, protection, and human vulnerability.

Achilles and the Vulnerable Heel

Achilles presents a different but related theme.

According to the most famous version of the myth, his mother, Thetis, sought to make him invulnerable by dipping him into the River Styx. She held him by the heel, leaving that small area untouched by the magical waters. Though nearly invincible everywhere else, Achilles retained a hidden point of weakness. During the Trojan War, an arrow struck his heel, causing his death.

The phrase “Achilles’ heel” has since become a symbol for a person’s single vulnerable point.

Duryodhana and Gandhari’s Blessing

In the Mahabharata, Duryodhana’s mother, Gandhari, had kept her eyes blindfolded for most of her life. Before the Kurukshetra war ended, she decided to remove the blindfold and use the spiritual power accumulated through years of austerity to make her son’s body invulnerable.

She instructed Duryodhana to come before her completely naked so her gaze could bless and protect his entire body. Embarrassed, Duryodhana covered his thighs with a cloth. As a result, those parts did not receive the blessing and remained vulnerable. Later, during his final duel with Bhima, he was struck on the thigh, leading to his defeat.

Symbolically, some interpreters see this story as illustrating that partial concealment leaves a weakness. Duryodhana was asked to present himself completely as he was, but shame and social conditioning prevented him from doing so. In that interpretation, the story becomes a metaphor for incomplete surrender or incomplete trust.

A Shared Symbolic Theme

Although these stories come from very different cultures, they share an interesting idea:

• Duryodhana’s protection was incomplete because part of his body remained covered.

• Achilles’ protection was incomplete because part of his body remained untouched.

In both myths, near-invulnerability is undone by a small area of vulnerability.

A spiritual or philosophical reading might say that human beings often seek total security, but there remains some place—physical, emotional, or moral—where vulnerability persists. The stories remind us that completeness, whether in protection, honesty, or self-understanding, is difficult to achieve.

That’s why some spiritual writers connect such myths to the broader idea of “standing fully exposed before truth”—not because nakedness itself is magical, but because the myths use the body as a symbol for openness, wholeness, and the limits of human control.

Mythological and religious stories where nakedness symbolizes spiritual power, truth, transformation, or closeness to the divine, there are several examples beyond Duryodhana and Achilles.

1. Adam and Eve Before the Fall

Adam and Eve are described as naked and unashamed in Eden. Many theologians interpret this not as erotic nudity but as a state of innocence, transparency, and complete harmony with God. Only after gaining self-consciousness do they cover themselves. The story has often been used as a metaphor for approaching God without deception or pretence.

2. Enkidu in the Epic of Gilgamesh

Enkidu begins as a wild man living among animals. His nakedness represents his original, natural state before civilization. The epic uses clothing as a symbol of entering human society. In symbolic readings, nakedness represents humanity’s primal connection with nature and the gods.

3. Diogenes the Cynic

Although historical rather than mythological, Diogenes of Sinope became legendary for rejecting social conventions. He lived with minimal possessions and challenged the idea that dignity depended on status, wealth, or appearance. Later traditions often portrayed him as embracing a radical simplicity that bordered on ritual nakedness.

4. Naga Sadhus

Among some Hindu ascetics, nakedness symbolizes complete renunciation. A Naga Sadhu abandons not only possessions but also social identity. The naked body becomes a declaration that nothing material stands between the seeker and ultimate reality.

5. Saint Francis and the Renunciation of Wealth

Francis of Assisi is said to have publicly removed his fine clothing and returned it to his father when renouncing wealth. While not remaining naked, the act symbolized stripping away worldly identity before God. The gesture became one of Christianity’s most powerful images of spiritual surrender.

6. Lady Godiva

Lady Godiva is remembered in legend for riding naked through Coventry to secure relief for the poor. Historians doubt the event literally occurred, but the story became a symbol of self-sacrifice, vulnerability, and moral courage. Some scholars suggest the tale draws on older ritual and mythological motifs involving sacred processions and symbolic nakedness.

7. The Digambara Jinas

In Jain tradition, the great teachers known as Tirthankaras are often depicted nude in Digambara art. The nudity signifies total freedom from attachment, ego, and ownership. The body is not being celebrated; rather, material possessions are being abandoned.

A Common Mythological Pattern

Across many cultures, sacred nakedness is rarely about sexuality. Instead, it often symbolizes:

• Innocence before divine judgment (Adam and Eve)

• Complete trust (Duryodhana before Gandhari’s gaze)

• Freedom from possessions (Digambara monks)

• Renunciation of social identity (Naga Sadhus)

• Return to nature (Enkidu)

That recurring theme may explain why some spiritual writers argue that “naked prayer” is symbolically powerful: clothing represents roles, status, and identity, while nakedness represents the human being standing before the sacred with nothing to conceal. However, this remains a symbolic interpretation rather than a teaching accepted by most mainstream religions.

Recently I watched the new HE MAN movie with my children and we all throughly enjoyed it.

One of the most fascinating trends in entertainment today is the return of the stories that defined my childhood.

Everywhere I look, beloved franchises from the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s are being revived, rebooted, remade, expanded, or reimagined for modern audiences.

As a parent, I find myself in a unique position. I am no longer simply the audience. I am now the bridge between generations.

When I sit down to watch a new adaptation of Harry Potter, a revival of He-Man, a new Jurassic World film, a live-action Disney remake, or a continuation of a franchise like Star Wars, I am not just consuming entertainment. I am revisiting a piece of my own childhood while simultaneously introducing it to my children.

That experience feels surprisingly emotional.

Many of these stories are tied to some of my earliest memories.

I remember rushing home to watch cartoons.

I remember waiting for new episodes every week because streaming did not exist.

Even classic Disney films such as The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and others have been remade for a new generation.

The same pattern exists beyond film and television.

Video games are doing it too.

Many adults who grew up playing Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Crash Bandicoot, Pokémon, and Age of Empires are now sharing those experiences with their children.

Toy companies understand this phenomenon as well.

Brands like LEGO, Hot Wheels, Barbie, Transformers, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles continue to thrive because they appeal to both children and the adults who loved them decades ago.

This is not accidental.

The entertainment industry understands that people who grew up in the 1980s and 1990s are now adults in their peak earning years.

Many of us are in our thirties, forties, and fifties.

We have jobs.

We have families.

We have purchasing power.

Most importantly, we have nostalgia.

And nostalgia is incredibly valuable.

The industry has discovered that it is often easier to reintroduce an existing beloved franchise than to build a completely new one from scratch.

What makes this strategy especially powerful is that it reaches two generations simultaneously.

The children are experiencing the stories for the first time.

The parents are experiencing them for the second or third time.

Both groups become emotionally invested, but for different reasons.

My children watch because they are curious about the story.

I watch because I remember how that story made me feel.

That difference is important.

When I hear the Harry Potter theme music, I do not simply remember Hogwarts.

I remember being younger.

I remember the friends I discussed the books with.

I remember standing in line for midnight releases.

I remember the excitement of discovering a new world.

The story becomes connected to memories of an entire stage of life.

That is what nostalgia really is.

It is not simply remembering a movie or television show.

It is remembering who we were when we first experienced it.

That is why nostalgia can feel so powerful.

A familiar character can instantly transport us back twenty or thirty years.

A theme song can bring back memories we have not thought about in decades.

A remake can reconnect us with a younger version of ourselves.

As a parent, however, what I enjoy most is watching these stories through my children’s eyes.

I know what is coming.

They do not.

I know the plot twists.

They are discovering them for the first time.

I know which characters will become heroes.

They are still figuring it out.

Watching them experience that same wonder reminds me why these stories mattered in the first place.

It also creates something increasingly rare in modern life: shared cultural experiences.

Parents and children often consume very different forms of entertainment.

Yet franchises like Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel, Jurassic World, Avatar, Pokémon, and The Lord of the Rings create opportunities for generations to connect over a common story.

Those shared experiences become memories of their own.

Years from now, my children may remember watching these films with me just as vividly as I remember watching the originals.

And perhaps one day they will introduce those same stories to their own children.

That is why I believe the entertainment industry is absolutely banking on my generation.

They know that nostalgia sells.

They know that emotional connections are powerful.

They know that parents enjoy sharing their childhood favorites with their children.

But I do not view that as a cynical business strategy.

I see it as evidence that great stories endure.

The best stories are not confined to one generation.

They survive because they speak to universal human experiences: friendship, courage, adventure, sacrifice, hope, imagination, and the struggle between good and evil.

Technology changes.

Special effects improve.

Audiences evolve.

But those themes remain timeless.

And that is why I feel proud when I sit beside my children and watch a story that once captivated me decades ago.

For a few hours, the gap between generations disappears.

We are simply sharing the same adventure.

The creators may be banking on nostalgia, but what they are really selling is something even more valuable:

The chance for one generation to pass its stories on to the next.

One of the questions I am asked most often is:

“How do you look younger than your age?”

As a woman who just entered her forties, I hear this surprisingly often. Some people assume there must be a secret skincare routine, an expensive beauty treatment, a miracle supplement, or some hidden anti-aging formula.

My answer usually disappoints them because it is far less glamorous.

I believe one of the biggest reasons I have maintained my health, energy, and appearance is that I have learned to treat good-quality food and clean water as investments rather than expenses. Just as importantly, I have embraced a healthy lifestyle that costs very little and, in many cases, is completely free.

When people ask me how I stay looking youthful, I tell them that what we put into our bodies and how we use our bodies every day matters far more than most people realize.

The human body is constantly rebuilding itself. Skin cells renew. Hair grows. Muscles repair. Hormones fluctuate. Every one of those processes depends upon the raw materials we provide through food and water.

We spend years working hard to earn money. We invest in homes, cars, technology, and countless other possessions. Yet many people hesitate when it comes to investing in the very thing that makes all of those achievements possible: their health.

To me, that makes little sense.

If I am willing to spend money maintaining my car or repairing my home, why would I not invest in the body that carries me through every day of my life?

As I have grown older, I have become increasingly convinced that many of the visible signs of wellbeing begin long before they appear on the surface. Healthy skin, good posture, physical vitality, energy, and healthy aging are often the result of years of consistent habits rather than quick fixes.

People often want dramatic solutions.

I believe in simple ones.

• Eat better.

• Drink better water.

• Sleep properly.

• Move your body.

• Manage stress.

Repeat consistently for years.

The results may not appear overnight, but they compound over time.

I have learned that every meal is either helping or hindering the body’s ability to function optimally. The proteins, vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and antioxidants we consume become part of us. They influence how we feel, how we recover, how we age, and how we perform.

The same is true of hydration.

Water is involved in nearly every biological function. It supports circulation, digestion, temperature regulation, nutrient transport, cognitive function, and cellular health. Yet many people underestimate its importance because it seems so ordinary.

I do not.

To me, clean and high-quality water is one of the most important health investments a person can make.

But there is another side to health that many people overlook because it is not something that can be sold in a bottle or packaged as a product.

Physical activity.

One of the greatest gifts we can give our bodies is movement.

The wonderful thing is that some of the healthiest activities in life are either inexpensive or completely free.

You do not necessarily need a luxury gym membership or expensive equipment.

• You simply need to move.

• Walk because the weather is beautiful.

• Dance because music makes you happy.

• Swim because you love being in the water.

• Take the stairs.

• Play with your children.

• Stretch.

• Ride a bicycle.

Find activities that make you look forward to moving rather than forcing yourself through workouts you hate.

Personally, I enjoy any activity that gets my body moving and my heart working. I have always believed that exercise should feel less like a punishment and more like a celebration of being alive.

I also believe that a healthy and fulfilling sex life can be part of an active lifestyle. Sexual activity involves movement, physical exertion, emotional connection, stress reduction, and the release of hormones associated with pleasure and wellbeing. While it is not a replacement for overall fitness, it can certainly be one enjoyable component of a healthy life.

I also think people underestimate the role that affection, intimacy, and sexuality can play in overall wellbeing. A healthy sex life can contribute to physical activity, stress relief, emotional connection, better mood, and a greater sense of vitality. While sex is not a substitute for exercise, it is another reminder that our bodies are designed to move, feel, connect, and experience pleasure.

Over the years I have learned that health is not simply about looking good. It is about feeling alive. It is about having energy when I wake up in the morning, strength throughout the day, and enthusiasm for life.

For me, that means nourishing my body with quality food, staying hydrated with clean water, getting adequate rest, managing stress, and remaining physically active in ways that I genuinely enjoy. Some days that may be a long walk. Other days it may be swimming, dancing, hiking, or simply spending time outdoors. Intimacy and a fulfilling sex life can also be part of that broader picture of wellbeing.

When people ask me how I maintain my energy and youthful outlook, I rarely talk about products or beauty treatments. Instead, I talk about habits.

• Good food.

• Clean water.

• Quality sleep.

• Regular movement.

• Meaningful relationships.

• Laughter.

• Affection.

• Sexual wellbeing.

• Mental Health

And most importantly consistency over time.

None of these things are magic. Yet together they create a lifestyle that supports health from the inside out.

People often search for anti-aging secrets, but many of the most powerful tools have always been available to us. They are found in the daily choices we make, the food we eat, the water we drink, the way we move our bodies, and the way we care for ourselves and the people we love.

When people ask me how I stay fit and energetic, my answer is rarely complicated.

• I move my body.

• I stay active.

• I choose activities I genuinely enjoy.

• I nourish myself with quality food.

• I drink plenty of water.

• I try to sleep well.

And I repeat those habits year after year.

As a mother, this perspective became even more meaningful.

I want to remain healthy, active, and energetic for my children. I want to be present in their lives for many years to come. I want the strength to keep up with life’s demands and the vitality to enjoy life’s pleasures.

That goal influences my daily choices.

When I shop for food, I am not merely thinking about today’s meal. I am thinking about the person I want to be ten, twenty, or thirty years from now.

• I am investing in my future energy.

• I am investing in my future quality of life.

Many people search endlessly for anti-aging secrets while overlooking the fundamentals that have always been available to them.

The truth is that our bodies keep a record of what we consistently do.

• Years of poor nutrition eventually show up.

• Years of inactivity eventually show up.

• Years of neglect eventually show up.

But years of good nutrition, proper hydration, movement, and self-care show up as well.

When people tell me I look younger than my age, I take it as a compliment. But I do not think the answer lies in any single product, treatment, or beauty routine.

I think the answer lies in thousands of small decisions made over many years.

• Choosing quality food.

• Choosing clean water.

• Choosing movement.

• Choosing activities I enjoy.

• Choosing rest.

• Choosing consistency.

Those choices may not be exciting enough to sell as a miracle cure, but they are powerful.

At the end of the day, the most expensive thing we can neglect is our health.

The body we live in is the most valuable asset we will ever own.

For that reason, I believe some of the smartest investments we can make are good-quality food, clean water, regular movement, and simple daily habits that support long-term wellbeing.

People may see youthful skin or physical vitality.

What they are really seeing is the result of years of investing in health from the inside out.

Another change that has had a tremendous impact on my health over the years has been gradually reducing things that I knew were not serving my body well.

I did not transform my lifestyle overnight. I did not wake up one morning and suddenly become the picture of perfect health. The changes happened slowly, one choice at a time, over many years.

One of the biggest shifts was reducing my consumption of alcohol, cutting back significantly on meat, and moving away from smoking.

What surprised me was not that I noticed improvements—it was how dramatic those improvements became when viewed over a long period of time.

Many people underestimate the power of gradual change because they are looking for immediate results. I have learned that the body often rewards consistency far more than intensity.

As I reduced alcohol, I noticed improvements in my energy levels, sleep quality, hydration, and overall wellbeing. I woke up feeling more refreshed. My body recovered more easily from physical activity. I felt clearer mentally and more productive throughout the day.

Reducing smoking was even more significant. Over time, I noticed positive changes in my breathing, stamina, circulation, and physical endurance. Activities such as walking, swimming, dancing, and other forms of exercise like sex became easier and more enjoyable. I felt as though my body was finally receiving the oxygen and support it needed to perform at its best.

I also became more conscious about the quality and quantity of meat I consumed. Rather than building every meal around meat, I started incorporating more vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, seeds, and whole foods into my diet. I was not motivated by ideology as much as by how my body responded.

The more I paid attention, the more I noticed the difference.

• I felt lighter.

• I felt more energetic.

• I felt healthier.

• I felt chiseled

• My digestion improved.

• My recovery improved.

• My overall sense of wellbeing improved.

What fascinated me most was that these changes were not merely physical.

I became more mindful about what I was consuming and how it affected me.

People often ask me how I maintain my energy, my health, and what they describe as a youthful appearance. While there is no single answer, I believe these gradual lifestyle changes have played a significant role.

The body is remarkably resilient when given the opportunity to heal and recover.

Many of us spend years asking our bodies to tolerate poor habits. Yet when we begin making healthier choices, even small ones, the body often responds in ways that exceed our expectations.

Over the years, as I reduced alcohol, moved away from smoking, improved my diet, and embraced a more active lifestyle, I witnessed changes that no beauty product or quick-fix solution could ever provide.

• I felt more energetic.

And perhaps most importantly, I felt more connected to my own body.

Looking back, those changes were some of the best investments I have ever made. Not because they helped me look younger, but because they helped me feel better, live better, and appreciate the body I have been given.

Not because I’m looking for anything in particular, but because I genuinely enjoy hearing people’s stories, perspectives, experiences, and the little things that make them who they are.

Sometimes it feels like the art of people truly opening up is becoming rare. We live in a world where we’re more connected than ever, yet many conversations never get past the surface. We exchange updates, opinions, and emojis, but not always the thoughts, fears, dreams, and memories that make human connection meaningful.

I’ve found that everyone has a story worth hearing if you give them the space to tell it. Some of the most memorable conversations I’ve had started with complete strangers and ended with both of us feeling a little more understood.

I don’t think people are losing the desire to connect. I think many have simply forgotten what it feels like to be listened to without judgment, interruption, or an agenda.

So yes, I like to chat. Not to fill silence, but to discover the person behind the profile, the face, the job title, or the first impression.

Sometimes a good conversation is one of the few places left where people can simply be themselves.

At 40, I no longer look at my body through the eyes of insecurity. I look at it through the eyes of gratitude.

This body has carried me through heartbreak, joy, motherhood, stress, laughter, work, and countless ordinary days that slowly became years. Every curve, line, and feature tells the story of a life that has been fully lived. When I choose to reveal my body, I do not do so because I need validation. I do it because I have reached a point where I genuinely appreciate what I see.

There is something liberating about standing before the world without apology. Many people spend their lives hiding, worrying about whether they are attractive enough, young enough, thin enough, or desirable enough. I spent years learning that confidence is not the absence of flaws; it is the acceptance of oneself despite them.

Part of that acceptance is acknowledging that sexuality exists. Human beings are visual creatures. Attraction is natural. Desire is natural. Fantasy is natural. For thousands of years people have admired beauty, written poetry about it, painted it, sculpted it, photographed it, and celebrated it. I do not believe that attraction itself is something shameful.

When people find me attractive, I do not automatically interpret it as disrespect. There is a difference between appreciating a person and dehumanizing them. There is a difference between desire and objectification. Desire recognizes humanity while also acknowledging attraction. Objectification ignores humanity and sees only a body. The distinction matters.

I am aware that some people look at me and simply see a woman who is comfortable in her own skin. Others may admire my confidence. Some may be inspired by the fact that a woman at forty can still celebrate her femininity without embarrassment. And yes, some may experience sexual attraction. I do not find that disturbing. It is one of the many ways human beings respond to one another.

In fact, I think society often creates unnecessary shame around attraction. We are taught to pretend that desire does not exist, even though it is one of the most universal human experiences. Attraction does not automatically diminish respect. A person can admire a woman’s intelligence, character, strength, and humanity while also finding her beautiful and desirable.

Over the years I have also interacted with many shy, lonely, inexperienced, and socially anxious men. Some have never had a girlfriend. Some have never been intimate with anyone. Some struggle to speak confidently to women. Others carry years of rejection, insecurity, or self-doubt.

What I have learned is that loneliness is often deeper than a lack of sex. Many people are starved for attention, conversation, acceptance, and understanding. They want to feel noticed. They want to feel that someone sees them as a person rather than a problem to be fixed.

When I chat with such men, I am often reminded that kindness can have a powerful effect. A respectful conversation, a genuine exchange of ideas, or simply being treated without judgment can help someone feel more comfortable in their own skin. Human connection has value.

I also recognize that for some people, attraction and connection are intertwined. Being able to admire a woman, appreciate her beauty, and interact with her respectfully can be a meaningful experience, especially for someone who has spent years feeling invisible. While I do not believe any individual is responsible for solving another person’s loneliness, I do think there is something valuable about creating spaces where people can interact openly without shame or hostility.

Perhaps that is why I feel comfortable with the attention my body receives. I do not see it merely as people looking at skin. I see it as part of a broader human experience that includes beauty, attraction, curiosity, confidence, admiration, fantasy, and connection. These things have always existed and always will.

As I grow older, I find myself less interested in hiding and more interested in authenticity. I am proud of my body not because it is perfect, but because it is mine. I am comfortable being desired because desire is a natural human response. And I appreciate opportunities to connect with people because meaningful connection, whether rooted in admiration, attraction, friendship, or simple conversation, is one of the things that makes us feel most alive.

To me, confidence is not about demanding attention. It is about being at peace with receiving it. It is about understanding that beauty, sexuality, and dignity can coexist. It is about recognizing that attraction does not have to be accompanied by shame, and that being seen—truly seen—can be one of the most affirming experiences a person can have.

Many men have asked me the same question over the years:

“Why do you spend time talking to men like me?”

Sometimes the question comes from a place of surprise. Sometimes it comes from insecurity. Often it comes from men who assume that an attractive woman has no reason to engage with ordinary, shy, lonely, awkward, inexperienced, or socially anxious men.

The question itself reveals something sad about how many people experience the world. There are countless men who have spent years feeling invisible. They are accustomed to being ignored, overlooked, or dismissed. As a result, when a woman voluntarily starts a conversation, responds warmly, or treats them with genuine respect, they assume there must be a hidden motive.

The truth is much simpler.

I talk to people because they are people.

I do not measure someone’s worth by their relationship status, their sexual experience, their confidence level, their income, or their social success. Behind every profile, every message, and every conversation is a human being with fears, dreams, insecurities, disappointments, and hopes.

Many of the men who contact me are carrying burdens they rarely discuss openly. Some struggle with loneliness. Some have never had a romantic relationship. Some feel unattractive. Some believe they are fundamentally unworthy of affection. Others have spent years convinced that women would never willingly choose to spend time talking to them.

When I encounter that kind of self-doubt, I do not see a stereotype. I see a person.

Perhaps because I am forty now, I have become less interested in social hierarchies and more interested in authenticity. Life has taught me that confidence and insecurity exist in every category of person. The successful executive can be lonely. The handsome man can be insecure. The popular person can feel misunderstood. Human beings are far more complicated than the labels we assign to them.

Some men are surprised that I am comfortable discussing attraction openly. They assume that if a woman acknowledges her sexuality, she must only be interested in the most conventionally attractive men. Reality is rarely that simple.

I am comfortable with the fact that people find me attractive. I am comfortable with the fact that some men enjoy looking at my photographs or admire my body. I understand that attraction, fantasy, and desire are normal parts of human nature. What matters to me is not whether someone is attracted to me. What matters is whether they treat me with respect and whether our interaction remains grounded in mutual humanity.

Many people assume that if sexual attraction exists, meaningful conversation cannot exist alongside it. I have found the opposite to be true. Attraction does not erase humanity. A person can appreciate beauty while still being thoughtful, intelligent, respectful, and kind.

That is why I do not automatically dismiss someone simply because they are attracted to me.

In fact, some of the most heartfelt conversations I have had have been with men who initially approached me because they found me attractive. Once the masks came off, the conversation often became about life, family, fear, loneliness, personal growth, or the search for happiness.

Those moments remind me that human beings are rarely defined by the reason they first start a conversation.

When men ask why I talk to them, my answer is that I do not see myself as existing on a different level from them. I am a human being speaking to another human being. I have my own insecurities, struggles, disappointments, and lessons. The fact that someone finds me attractive does not make them less worthy of conversation. The fact that I am confident in my body does not make me less interested in genuine connection.

If anything, I believe the world could use more conversations between people who have been taught to fear judgment.

So when a shy man asks why I am talking to him, the answer is usually simple:

Because I enjoy meeting people.

Because loneliness is more common than most of us admit.

Because kindness costs very little.

Because being seen and heard matters.

And because sometimes a conversation that seems ordinary to one person can mean far more to the person on the other side of the screen.

During the pandemic, I witnessed something that changed my perspective on loneliness.

Two of my close female friends (Photos attached above - whose frequency of thoughts match mine), both single mothers approaching their forties, noticed how isolated many people had become. While everyone was struggling with lockdowns, uncertainty, and social distancing, some men seemed particularly disconnected from the world around them. Many had little social support, few friendships, and no romantic relationships. Some described themselves as shy, socially anxious, or inexperienced when it came to women.

My friends decided to do something simple. They began offering free conversations online. There was no business model, no hidden agenda, and no expectation of anything in return. They simply shared ordinary parts of their daily lives and made themselves available for genuine conversation.

What surprised them was how much those interactions meant to the men they spoke with.

The conversations were rarely dramatic. They talked about work, children, cooking, television shows, family problems, hobbies, fitness goals, and the small frustrations of everyday life. Yet for many of the men involved, these exchanges provided something they had been missing for a long time: normal human connection.

Many admitted that they had very little interaction with women outside of professional settings. Some had never had a girlfriend. Others felt intimidated by dating or lacked confidence in social situations. Men with disabilities who found socialising difficult. They all were not looking for grand solutions to their lives. Often, they simply appreciated being treated as ordinary people rather than stereotypes.

My friends discovered that what many lonely individuals crave is not merely romance or sex, but inclusion. They want to feel connected to the rhythms of another person’s life. Hearing about someone’s day, their children, their challenges, and their successes can create a sense of participation in a wider human experience.

Watching those friendships develop reminded me that loneliness is often less visible than other hardships. People can appear functional on the surface while feeling profoundly disconnected underneath. A kind conversation cannot solve every problem, but it can remind someone that they are not completely alone.

The pandemic highlighted how important human connection truly is. Sometimes the most meaningful gift we can offer another person is not advice, money, or solutions. Sometimes it is simply our attention, our time, and a willingness to treat them with warmth and dignity.

Life has taken me through motherhood, career challenges, personal reinvention, heartbreak, growth, and plenty of unexpected adventures. I’ve learned a lot, made mistakes, changed my mind more than once, and I’m still figuring things out.

I shed shame and guilt.

For much of my life, I carried them as if they were virtues. Shame convinced me that parts of myself were unacceptable. Guilt convinced me that putting my own needs first somehow made me selfish. Together, they shaped countless decisions, often encouraging me to shrink myself in order to make others comfortable.

I felt shame for my imperfections, shame for my desires, shame for wanting more from life than the roles I had been assigned. I carried guilt whenever I chose myself, whenever I pursued happiness, whenever I stepped outside expectations that others had placed upon me.

Eventually, I realized that neither shame nor guilt was helping me become a better person. They were simply keeping me disconnected from my authentic self.

The turning point came when I learned the difference between responsibility and self-punishment. I can acknowledge mistakes without living in regret. I can learn from the past without carrying it forever. I can honor my needs without apologizing for having them.

Shedding shame allowed me to stop hiding.

Shedding guilt allowed me to stop asking permission to exist as I am.

That doesn’t mean I became perfect, fearless, or free from self-doubt. It means I stopped treating my humanity as a problem that needed solving.

Today, I am more honest about who I am—my strengths, my flaws, my desires, my boundaries, my hopes. I no longer feel compelled to justify every part of myself to the world.

Do I miss the person I was before?

I don’t miss the burden she carried. But I respect her. She survived. She learned. She grew. She brought me here.

What I lost was shame and guilt.

What I gained was self-acceptance, peace, and the freedom to live with an open heart.

And that exchange was worth everything.

People often say that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, and I believe there is truth in that.

What one person finds beautiful, another may overlook. Some will notice my appearance, others my smile, my energy, my resilience, or the way I carry myself through life. Beauty has always been subjective.

But as I’ve grown older, I’ve realized that beauty is not only about how others see me. It is also about how I see myself.

For years, I searched for validation in the eyes of others. Today, I find more value in the peace I have cultivated within. I have shed much of the shame and guilt that once weighed me down. I have stopped apologizing for who I am, what I desire, and the life I choose to live.

I am not beautiful because I am flawless. I am beautiful because I am authentic. Because I have survived difficult seasons and remained open-hearted. Because I have learned to accept both my strengths and my imperfections.

So yes, beauty may lie in the eye of the beholder.

But I have learned that the most important beholder is myself.

The day I began seeing myself with compassion instead of criticism, acceptance instead of shame, and gratitude instead of comparison, I discovered a kind of beauty that no mirror could ever fully reflect.

And that beauty feels less like appearance and more like peace.

I think that one of the more challenging lessons a parent can teach because it often goes against what children absorb from the world around them.

Children quickly learn to be embarrassed about things that are visible—how they look, what they wear, their bodies, their mistakes, what others think of them. Society reinforces those insecurities constantly.

What is much harder is teaching them to attach moral weight to character rather than appearance.

I want my children to understand that there is no shame in having a human body. There is no shame in aging, imperfection, vulnerability, or simply being who they are.

What should trouble them is treating someone unfairly.

What should make them uncomfortable is participating in cruelty, staying silent when someone is being bullied, lying to protect themselves, or abandoning their principles because it is easier than standing up for what is right.

The challenge is that children learn more from what we do than from what we say.

If they see adults obsessing over appearances but ignoring dishonesty, they absorb that lesson.

If they see adults judging bodies but excusing cruelty, they absorb that lesson too.

Teaching them otherwise requires constant conversations, patience, and example. It means helping them understand that character matters more than image, integrity matters more than popularity, and courage matters more than fitting in.

I believe children should feel embarrassed by cruelty, dishonesty, cowardice, and disrespect—not by the human body.

They should feel uncomfortable when they mock someone who is vulnerable, when they stay silent in the face of injustice, when they spread lies, or when they treat others without dignity. Those are the moments that call for self-reflection and moral growth.

But nakedness, in itself, is not a moral failure. The human body is natural. Every person enters this world with one. Bodies are not shameful; they are simply part of being human.

Too often, society teaches children to blush at skin while remaining indifferent to bullying, prejudice, hypocrisy, or dishonesty. We teach embarrassment about appearance when perhaps we should be teaching accountability for character.

I would rather raise children who are unafraid of the human body but deeply concerned about how they treat other people.

Let them feel ashamed of being cruel.

Let them feel ashamed of abandoning their principles.

Let them feel ashamed of turning away from truth when it is inconvenient.

But let them never feel ashamed of being human.

Character deserves greater scrutiny than skin. Integrity matters more than modesty. And standing up for what is right is far more important than being embarrassed by a body that nature created.

I don’t know if I’ll always get it right as a parent. But if my children grow up more embarrassed by injustice than by nakedness, more troubled by cruelty than by human imperfections, and more concerned with truth than appearances, I will feel that I taught them something worthwhile.

That’s an interesting question.

Looking back, my relationship with sexuality has definitely evolved through different stages of life.

In my teens, desire was often intense in imagination but mixed with uncertainty, inexperience, and curiosity. There was excitement, fantasy, and a strong awareness of attraction, but I was still trying to understand myself and what intimacy really meant.

In my twenties, sexuality felt energetic, adventurous, and often driven by discovery. There was a lot of passion, spontaneity, and exploration. The intensity was there, but it was sometimes tied to emotion, romance, insecurity, or simply the excitement of new experiences.

In my thirties, something shifted. I became more comfortable in my own skin and less concerned with other people’s expectations. Desire felt less driven by insecurity or the need for validation and more connected to confidence, self-awareness, and genuine enjoyment. In many ways, I felt more sexually confident than I ever had before.

Now, at forty, I find that desire feels more intentional and self-aware. The intensity hasn’t disappeared—in some ways it has become deeper. It is less about urgency and more about presence. Less about proving something and more about fully experiencing connection, pleasure, chemistry, and intimacy.

If I compare the decades, I would say the intensity has changed rather than declined. In my teens and twenties it was often fueled by novelty and curiosity. In my thirties and forties it became fueled by confidence, self-knowledge, and a greater appreciation for intimacy itself.

Age has not made me less passionate. It has made me more aware of what passion actually means. The result is that while desire may express itself differently today, it often feels more authentic, more grounded, and, in many ways, more fulfilling than it did when I was younger.

So has my sex drive changed?

Yes and no.

The intensity, expression, and motivations behind it have evolved with age and experience. But the capacity for desire, intimacy, pleasure, and attraction has remained very much alive. If anything, maturity has brought a deeper understanding of sexuality—not just as a physical experience, but as one aspect of a rich and fully lived life.

Being nude is the most basic, most primitive way of living. It’s how we started — before clothes, before all the layers we’ve added since. For me, it’s stopped being just something I do on vacation or in certain places. It’s become my lifestyle.

There’s nothing complicated about it. No fabric, no fuss, no armor between me and the world. Just skin, air, and whatever’s in front of me. It feels less like a choice I make each day and more like returning to something simple and true — the way things were meant to be before we overcomplicated them.

I am a naturist. I like to connect with nature in the most direct way I know — skin to air, feet to earth, body to the elements without anything standing between us. For me, this was never a decision I sat down and made one day. It wasn’t a philosophy I discovered in a book or adopted after some revelation. Nudism didn’t happen because I chose it — it chose me, long before I was old enough to understand what choosing even meant.

I was raised in this way of living. It was simply the environment I grew up in, as natural to me as language or the seasons. Where other people might have had to unlearn years of shame or self-consciousness to arrive at this place, I never had that wall to climb. My relationship with my own body, and with the natural world, was never mediated by embarrassment. It just was.

There’s a kind of honesty in that upbringing. Nature doesn’t dress itself up — the trees don’t wear anything, the rivers don’t cover themselves, the wind touches everything equally. Being raised to move through the world that way taught me early that the body isn’t something to hide or apologize for. It’s not an object to be managed or a thing to be ashamed of — it’s just the vessel I experience the world through.

So when I say I’m a naturist, I don’t mean it as a statement of rebellion or performance. I mean it as a description of how I was formed — quietly, without ceremony, by an environment that never taught me to see my own skin as something separate from the natural world around it.

As a single mother in my early forties, I no longer judge the health of my sex life by how often I have sex. What matters to me is whether it adds something positive to my life.

I ask myself a few simple questions.

• Am I comfortable with the amount of sexual activity I’m having?

• Is it enhancing my wellbeing rather than creating problems?

• Is it consistent with my responsibilities, values, and goals?

If the answer to those questions is yes, then I know I am in a healthy place. Those questions tell me far more about my sexual health than any statistic ever could.

For me, a healthy sex life is not about keeping up with anyone else’s expectations. It is not about proving that I am desirable, youthful, or liberated. It is about understanding my own needs and making choices that feel right for me.

I want my sexuality to be a source of pleasure, connection, confidence, and joy. I want it to fit naturally alongside the other important parts of my life—my children, my work, my friendships, my health, and my personal growth.

When my sexual life leaves me feeling fulfilled rather than drained, confident rather than conflicted, and happy rather than stressed, I know it is serving a positive purpose.

I have learned that there is no universal number that defines a healthy sex life. Some periods of my life may be more sexually active than others. My needs, opportunities, and priorities can change over time, and that is perfectly normal.

What matters is that my choices are my own. I want to engage in sexual activity because I genuinely desire it, not because I feel pressured, lonely, obligated, or driven by someone else’s expectations.

As I have grown older, I have become more comfortable with my sexuality and more confident in defining it for myself. I no longer compare my experiences to those of other women. I no longer measure my wellbeing by statistics or social expectations.

Instead, I measure it by how I feel.

• Does my sex life contribute positively to my happiness?

• Does it support my emotional and physical wellbeing?

• Does it fit comfortably within the life I am building for myself and my family?

If the answer is yes, then I consider it healthy, regardless of how often it happens.

For me, the healthiest frequency is simply the one that leaves me feeling satisfied, balanced, authentic, and at peace with myself.

As a single mother in my forties, I have come to view sexuality very differently than I did when I was younger.

When I was in my teens and twenties, it was easy to absorb society’s expectations. There always seemed to be someone ready to tell women what they should or should not do with their bodies. Some people implied that a woman who enjoyed sex too much was irresponsible. Others suggested that a woman who was not sexually active enough was somehow missing out on life. The messages often contradicted one another, but they all shared one thing in common: they encouraged women to measure themselves against external standards.

At this stage of my life, I am no longer interested in living according to someone else’s scorecard.

As a mother, I carry responsibilities that extend beyond myself. My children depend on me. My work requires my attention. My health matters. My friendships matter. My future matters. A healthy sex life is one that fits into that larger picture rather than disrupting it.

For me, sexual fulfilment is not separate from overall wellbeing. It is one component of a balanced life. When my sexual choices support my happiness, confidence, emotional health, and sense of connection, they are contributing positively. When they create unnecessary stress, conflict, or imbalance, they deserve re-evaluation.

I have also learned that desire does not disappear simply because a woman reaches forty. In many ways, I feel more comfortable with my sexuality now than I did when I was younger. I know myself better. I understand my boundaries more clearly. I am less concerned with impressing people and more concerned with being authentic.

One of the most freeing realizations of adulthood is understanding that sexuality is not a competition. There is no prize for having the most active sex life, nor is there virtue in denying one’s desires simply to meet someone else’s expectations. Every woman must decide for herself what role sexuality will play in her life.

For me, a healthy sexual life is one that feels intentional rather than compulsive. I want my choices to come from desire, curiosity, affection, attraction, or genuine enjoyment—not from pressure, insecurity, loneliness, or a need for validation.

I want to be able to look at my life as a whole and feel that everything is working together. I want to be present for my children. I want to perform well in my career. I want to maintain my physical and emotional health. I want meaningful relationships and fulfilling experiences. If my sexual life complements those goals, then it is serving a positive purpose.

I also believe that pleasure has value. Many women are taught to think of pleasure as something frivolous or selfish. I disagree. Pleasure can be part of a healthy, balanced, and joyful life. It can help us feel connected to our bodies, reduce stress, strengthen intimacy, and remind us that we are more than our obligations and responsibilities.

At the same time, I do not believe pleasure should come at the expense of everything else. Balance matters. Maturity often means understanding how to enjoy one aspect of life without neglecting the others.

As I have grown older, I have become less interested in labels and more interested in honesty. I do not need to justify my sexuality to strangers. I do not need to compare myself to other women. I do not need anyone else’s permission to embrace or decline intimacy.

What matters is that I am living in a way that feels authentic to me.

So when I think about whether my sex life is healthy, I do not ask how often I am having sex. I ask whether it contributes positively to the life I am building. I ask whether it aligns with my values. I ask whether it leaves me feeling fulfilled, balanced, confident, and at peace.

If the answer is yes, then I know I am exactly where I need to be.

For me, the healthiest frequency is not determined by a calendar. It is determined by whether my sexuality is integrated into my life in a way that supports my happiness, my wellbeing, my responsibilities, and my sense of self. That answer may look different for every woman, but it is the one that matters most to me.

To a very large degree, naturism and mindfulness have shaped the way I approach life. If someone were to ask me what experiences have most influenced my personal philosophy, these two practices would be near the top of the list.

Neither philosophy arrived in my life all at once. They developed gradually over the years, often through experiences that challenged my assumptions about myself, my body, other people, and what it means to live authentically.

When I was younger, like many people, I spent a great deal of time worrying about how I appeared to others. Society constantly encourages us to evaluate ourselves. Are we attractive enough? Successful enough? Young enough? Fit enough? Desirable enough? We are surrounded by messages suggesting that our worth depends on how well we measure up to some ideal.

Naturism challenged that mindset.

One of the most surprising lessons naturism taught me was that the human body becomes far less extraordinary when it is viewed naturally. When people are raised to treat the body as something shameful, secretive, or scandalous, they often develop distorted relationships with it. The body becomes an object of anxiety, obsession, comparison, or judgment.

Naturism encouraged me to see the body differently.

Instead of viewing bodies as products to be evaluated, I began to see them as expressions of life itself. Every body tells a story. Some bodies bear the marks of motherhood. Some reflect age and experience. Some carry scars from illness or injury. Some are athletic. Some are not. Yet all of them share the same basic humanity.

That realization was surprisingly liberating.

I became less interested in chasing perfection and more interested in appreciating reality. I stopped viewing confidence as the ability to meet impossible standards and started viewing it as the willingness to accept myself as I am.

Mindfulness reinforced this lesson in a different way.

Where naturism helped me become more comfortable with my body, mindfulness helped me become more comfortable with my thoughts and emotions.

Before discovering mindfulness, I often found myself living in the future or the past. Like many people, I worried about things that had not happened yet and replayed events that could no longer be changed. My mind was constantly occupied with expectations, fears, comparisons, and distractions.

Mindfulness taught me to pay attention.

Not in a mystical sense, but in a practical one.

It taught me to notice my thoughts without immediately believing them. It taught me to observe emotions without being controlled by them. It taught me to recognize when I was creating suffering through resistance rather than reality itself.

For example, many people experience discomfort, embarrassment, rejection, aging, uncertainty, or loss. These experiences are part of life. Mindfulness helped me understand that much of our suffering comes not from the experience itself but from our struggle against it.

The more I practiced mindfulness, the more I realized how much energy I had spent fighting reality.

I wanted circumstances to be different. I wanted people to behave differently. I wanted outcomes I could not control.

Mindfulness taught me a different approach: acknowledge reality first, then respond wisely.

That lesson changed many areas of my life.

It changed how I handled stress.

It changed how I handled conflict.

It changed how I handled disappointment.

Most importantly, it changed how I viewed myself.

Instead of constantly evaluating whether I was succeeding or failing, I became more interested in understanding what was actually happening in the present moment.

Combined together, naturism and mindfulness created a philosophy rooted in acceptance rather than judgment.

They taught me that self-worth does not depend on perfection.

They taught me that beauty is broader than cultural standards.

They taught me that vulnerability is not weakness.

They taught me that authenticity is often more valuable than approval.

As a mother, these lessons became even more important.

Children learn far more from what we model than from what we say. I want my children to see someone who is comfortable with herself rather than someone who is constantly criticising herself. I want them to understand that confidence comes from self-respect rather than external validation.

I want them to know that every human being deserves dignity, regardless of age, appearance, ability, income, or social status.

Naturism helped strengthen that belief because it strips away many of the symbols that people use to rank one another. Mindfulness strengthened it because it encourages compassion and awareness.

Together they have made me more patient, more accepting, and more appreciative of the diversity of human experience.

They have also influenced how I view happiness.

When I was younger, happiness often seemed like a destination. I believed it would arrive after achieving certain goals, acquiring certain things, or becoming a certain type of person.

Mindfulness gradually revealed how fragile that approach can be. There is always another goal, another challenge, another expectation.

The present moment is often overlooked while we chase a future version of ourselves.

Today, I see happiness less as a destination and more as a way of engaging with life.

It is found in conversations, relationships, nature, laughter, meaningful work, quiet moments, and simple experiences that are easily missed when the mind is elsewhere.

Naturism supports this perspective because it encourages direct engagement with life. There is a simplicity to it. There are fewer barriers between oneself and the environment. It invites a feeling of presence that complements mindfulness beautifully.

If I had to summarize the contribution of naturism and mindfulness to my philosophy, I would say they taught me three essential lessons.

First, accept yourself.

Second, accept reality.

Third, engage with life fully rather than fearfully.

Those principles do not eliminate hardship, uncertainty, or pain. Life remains complicated. Challenges still arise. Mistakes still happen.

What has changed is how I meet those experiences.

I am less concerned with appearing perfect.

Less concerned with earning approval.

Less concerned with controlling everything.

More concerned with being present.

More concerned with being authentic.

More concerned with appreciating the life I have rather than constantly longing for a different one.

For me, that is the greatest gift naturism and mindfulness have provided. They have not given me a perfect life. They have given me a deeper appreciation for the imperfect, beautiful, ordinary life that is already here.

After two failed marriages / multiple failed relationships and the responsibility of raising two sons, my life became defined by resilience. I worked, provided, nurtured, planned, sacrificed, and did everything I could to create a stable and loving home for my sons.

But there was another truth beneath the surface—one that many people are uncomfortable acknowledging when it comes to mothers, especially single mothers.

I never stopped being a sexual woman.

The end of my marriages did not switch off my desire. If anything, it intensified it. It did not erase my need for intimacy, affection, attraction, touch, or passion. I was still capable of longing. I was still capable of feeling chemistry with someone. I still wanted to be desired, admired, flirted with, kissed, and embraced as a woman—not only appreciated as a parent.

For years, I had devoted myself to relationships, responsibilities, and the demands of family life. When those chapters ended, I found myself confronting a truth I could no longer ignore: my capacity for pleasure, intimacy, and desire had not diminished. It had grown.

What surprised me was not that desire remained, but how powerfully it reasserted itself. Freed from the expectations and routines that had once defined my life, I became more aware of my own needs, my own body, and my own longing for connection and fulfillment.

The failure of my marriages did not make me less sensual. It made me more conscious of how precious intimacy is. It taught me not to take affection, passion, attraction, or pleasure for granted. It reminded me that being desired and desiring others are deeply human experiences that do not disappear simply because a relationship ends.

As I navigated life as a single mother, I discovered that my responsibilities and my desires were not enemies. I could be deeply committed to raising my children while still acknowledging my need for romance, affection, intimacy, and sexual fulfillment. One reality did not cancel out the other.

In many ways, the end of my marriages marked the beginning of a deeper understanding of myself. I was no longer pursuing intimacy because it was expected of me within a relationship. I was pursuing it because I recognized it as a genuine part of who I am.

For a long time, society has celebrated the self-sacrificing mother while quietly expecting her to place her own sensual and sexual needs on permanent hold. The message is often subtle but clear: good mothers give everything and ask for nothing.

I never believed that.

I believe a woman can devote herself to her children while remaining connected to her own sexuality. I believe she can be responsible and passionate. Nurturing and desirous. Protective and sensual.

There were nights when the house was quiet, the responsibilities temporarily paused, and I became aware of the simple fact that I was more than the role I performed every day. Beneath the routines of motherhood was a living, breathing woman who still craved connection, excitement, affection, and pleasure.

I refused to view those desires as weaknesses.

Desire is not a flaw to overcome. It is part of being alive.

I have never felt that seeking intimacy diminished my commitment to my children. If anything, remaining connected to my own emotional and sensual nature helped me remain connected to myself. It reminded me that I was not merely surviving. I was still living.

There is something profoundly affirming about being seen as a woman after years of being seen primarily as a mother. To feel attractive. To feel wanted. To experience romance, anticipation, chemistry, and passion. These experiences do not erase responsibility; they coexist with it.

My life did not end when my marriages ended.

My sexuality did not disappear because I became a mother.

My desire did not become less legitimate because I was raising children on my own.

I learned that it is possible to carry responsibility in one hand and pleasure in the other. To honor my role as a mother while also honoring the woman I continue to be.

I am proud of the family I have built. I am proud of the sacrifices I have made.

And I am equally unapologetic about the fact that, throughout it all, I remained a woman who desired intimacy, passion, connection, and sexual fulfillment—not despite being a mother, but simply because I am human.

Motherhood became one of the most important parts of my identity, but it never became my entire identity. Beneath the responsibilities, schedules, sacrifices, and endless demands of raising children, there remained a woman who could feel attraction, desire intimacy, appreciate beauty, and take pride in her femininity.

And I will never feel ashamed of feeling sexy.

For too long, society has been comfortable celebrating women as caregivers while becoming uncomfortable when those same women embrace their sensuality. Mothers, in particular, are often expected to be nurturing, selfless, and devoted—but somehow not desirous, flirtatious, confident, or sexually alive.

I reject that contradiction.

Feeling sexy is not vanity. It is not selfishness. It is not a betrayal of motherhood. It is simply an expression of confidence in one’s own body and presence. It is the ability to look in the mirror and appreciate the woman staring back. It is the willingness to enjoy being attractive without apologizing for it.

I spent years building a life, raising children, overcoming disappointments, and learning who I am. Through all of those experiences, I developed a deeper appreciation for myself—not just as a mother, but as a woman.

I enjoy feeling desirable.

I enjoy feeling feminine.

I enjoy feeling confident in my own skin.

And I refuse to treat those feelings as something that requires justification.

There is nothing shameful about a woman embracing her sexuality with self-respect and self-awareness. There is nothing shameful about enjoying attention, attraction, romance, or intimacy. These experiences do not diminish a woman’s character; they are part of her humanity.

The truth is simple: I can be a devoted mother and a sensual woman. I can be responsible and passionate. I can nurture others while still celebrating myself.

Those identities do not compete with one another.

They coexist.

I never stopped being a sexual woman, and I have no intention of apologizing for the confidence, vitality, and femininity that continue to make me feel alive.

Many people spend their entire lives hearing that sex is dangerous, embarrassing, sinful, improper, or something that should remain hidden behind layers of silence. They learn the mechanics of sex, but rarely learn how to experience it as a source of connection, self-discovery, pleasure, intimacy, or even transcendence.

As a result, many approach sexuality with caution rather than curiosity. They may desire it, fantasize about it, pursue it, and even enjoy it, yet still carry deep layers of guilt, shame, fear, or self-consciousness. These emotional barriers can prevent them from experiencing what some describe as the more magical dimensions of sexuality.

The word “prudishness” is often used to describe excessive modesty or discomfort around sexual topics. But prudishness is rarely just about modesty. More often, it is the visible expression of deeper conditioning. People absorb messages from family, religion, schools, media, and society long before they become sexually active. They learn which desires are acceptable, which bodies are attractive, which fantasies are permissible, and which parts of themselves should remain hidden.

When a person carries those burdens into intimacy, sex can become something they do rather than something they fully experience.

The magical aspect of sex is not necessarily found in novelty, frequency, or intensity. It emerges when people become fully present. In those moments, attention shifts away from performance, expectations, and social roles. The mind becomes quieter. Self-consciousness recedes. Physical sensation, emotion, affection, trust, and desire begin to merge into a single experience.

Many traditions throughout history have recognized this possibility. Mystics, poets, and philosophers have often described profound intimacy as a temporary dissolution of separation. For a brief period, the endless chatter of identity, status, worry, and responsibility gives way to pure experience. The individual becomes immersed in the present moment.

Yet such surrender requires vulnerability.

And vulnerability is precisely what many people fear.

To be truly intimate means allowing another person to see not only the body, but also insecurities, desires, imperfections, fears, and longings. It requires honesty. It requires trust. It requires relinquishing some degree of control. For people raised to suppress desire or fear judgment, this can feel uncomfortable or even threatening.

Prudishness therefore acts less like a moral position and more like armor.

Armor protects.

But armor also prevents touch.

The same walls that shield people from embarrassment can also shield them from profound connection. The same defenses that protect against vulnerability can make intimacy feel distant. The same fear of desire can prevent people from fully inhabiting their own bodies.

This does not mean everyone should pursue the same sexual path. People differ greatly in temperament, values, beliefs, and desires. Some find fulfillment in celibacy. Others find it in committed relationships. Others explore sexuality more openly. There is no universal formula for a meaningful life.

What matters is whether a person’s choices arise from authentic conviction rather than fear.

When sexuality is approached without shame, without coercion, and with mutual respect, it can become more than a physical activity. It can become a form of communication. A form of play. A form of healing. A form of self-expression. For some, it can even become a spiritual experience that deepens awareness of the body, the emotions, and the present moment.

The tragedy is not that people choose different paths.

The tragedy is when fear, guilt, or conditioning prevent them from consciously choosing their path at all.

In that sense, many people do not miss out on the deeper possibilities of sexuality because they lack desire. They miss out because they have been taught to fear their own humanity. And when fear governs intimacy, the extraordinary often remains hidden behind the ordinary.

The magical dimensions of sex are not reserved for a select few. They become accessible whenever two people meet each other with openness, trust, presence, and acceptance. The obstacle is often not desire itself, but the layers of shame and apprehension that stand between desire and experience.

I see it differently.

A child, even as they grow into adolescence, occupies a unique place in a parent’s life. The relationship between parent and child is not primarily a sexual one, but a bond of care, guidance, protection, and love. As children mature, they benefit from understanding that their parents are complete human beings—with emotions, desires, relationships, dreams, and histories that extend beyond the role of mother or father.

There is wisdom in helping a teenager understand that sexuality is a natural part of human existence. There is wisdom in teaching that the body is not something shameful, and that desire itself is not a moral failing. Many spiritual traditions teach that life energy expresses itself in countless ways, including through affection, attraction, intimacy, and sexuality.

Yet spirituality also teaches the importance of boundaries.

Healthy boundaries are not walls built from fear. They are sacred spaces that allow each relationship to flourish in its proper form. The love between parent and child carries a different purpose than the love between romantic partners. When those spaces remain clear, trust and emotional security can deepen.

A teenager does not need to participate in a parent’s sexual expression in order to learn that sexuality is natural. He can understand that his mother is a woman with her own life, her own choices, and her own relationship to her body. He can learn that beauty, desire, and self-expression are not things to be feared. At the same time, he can be free to maintain the emotional boundaries that help him grow into his own identity.

The deeper lesson is not that a child should become involved in a parent’s sexuality. The deeper lesson is that human beings are more than the roles they occupy. A mother is still a woman. A father is still a man. Yet the sacred bond between parent and child remains distinct from the realm of adult sexuality.

If questions arise, they can be met with honesty rather than shame. If curiosity arises, it can be met with understanding rather than fear. If discomfort arises, it can be met with compassion rather than judgment.

The goal is not to erase sexuality from life, nor to place it at the center of every relationship. The goal is integration—to recognize that sexuality is one expression of our humanity, while respecting the unique purpose and dignity of each human connection.

In this way, a teenager can learn that the body is natural, desire is natural, and adult sexuality is natural, while also learning that love takes many forms and that every relationship has its own sacred boundaries.

Society has lived for centuries in fear of both sex and consciousness. It has divided life into compartments: the sacred on one side, the sensual on the other. But existence does not recognize such divisions. The same life energy that flowers in meditation also flows through love, beauty, creativity, and sexuality.

A growing child should not be taught that the body is shameful, that desire is sinful, or that sexuality is something dirty to be hidden in darkness. Such teachings create inner conflict. They teach a person to distrust their own nature. A teenager benefits from understanding that sexuality is a natural part of life, just as breathing, eating, laughing, and dreaming are natural.

A mother is not only a mother. A father is not only a father. Before these roles existed, there was a human being. Behind every social identity is an individual with a body, emotions, desires, and a unique journey through life. To recognize this humanity is healthy. It allows a child to see parents not as perfect symbols, but as real people.

Yet awareness is essential.

Freedom without awareness becomes confusion. Awareness without freedom becomes repression.

The challenge is not to suppress sexuality, nor to turn every relationship into a sexual one. The challenge is to understand the nature of each relationship and allow it to unfold in its own way. The bond between parent and child has its own beauty, its own intimacy, and its own purpose. It is not diminished by acknowledging that the parent is also a sexual being, but neither does it need to become entangled in the parent’s sexual life.

A conscious parent does not cultivate shame around the body. Nor does a conscious parent invite a child into spaces that belong to adult sexuality. Instead, there is openness, honesty, and trust. Questions are welcomed. Curiosity is not punished. Nothing is hidden behind guilt or fear. At the same time, there is an understanding that every relationship has its own natural boundaries.

The truly spiritual approach is neither prudish nor indulgent. It is aware.

Awareness allows a young person to understand that sexuality is part of life without becoming obsessed with it. Awareness allows a parent to be authentic without turning authenticity into exhibitionism. Awareness allows love to remain love, friendship to remain friendship, and the parent-child bond to remain what it naturally is.

When there is awareness, there is no need for shame and no need for confusion. The body can be accepted. Desire can be accepted. Human beings can be accepted as they are. But acceptance is not the same as dissolving every boundary. A river is beautiful because it flows within its banks. Without them, it becomes a flood.

The highest teaching is not that everything should be exposed. The highest teaching is that nothing should be repressed and nothing should be unconscious. Then sexuality finds its rightful place—not as an enemy of spirituality, nor as its substitute, but as one expression of the vast energy of life itself.

Modern culture often swings between two extremes when it comes to sexuality. On one side lies repression: the belief that sexuality is something dangerous, embarrassing, or morally suspect. On the other side lies a form of liberation that sometimes mistakes the absence of boundaries for genuine freedom. Between these poles exists a more nuanced possibility—one that embraces sexuality as a natural part of human life while recognizing the importance of context, awareness, and relational integrity.

The first truth is that sexuality is not an aberration of human nature. It is woven into the fabric of life itself. Desire, attraction, sensuality, and intimacy are among the forces through which human beings connect, reproduce, express affection, and discover aspects of themselves. Attempts to deny or demonize these dimensions of experience have historically produced not enlightenment, but guilt, secrecy, and inner conflict.

A young person benefits from understanding this reality. Adolescence is a period of awakening—physical, emotional, and psychological. During this stage, teenagers begin to encounter desire not merely as an abstract concept, but as a lived experience. They become aware of attraction, fantasy, romance, and the complexity of their own developing identities. To meet these experiences with honesty rather than shame is one of the most valuable gifts a parent can offer.

Yet recognizing sexuality as natural does not require dissolving every boundary.

A common mistake in contemporary discussions is the assumption that if something is natural, then every expression of it is equally appropriate in every context. Human flourishing, however, depends not only on authenticity but also on discernment. The fact that sexuality is a healthy part of life does not mean that every relationship should become a venue for sexual expression. Different relationships serve different purposes, and their value often depends on preserving those distinctions.

This is particularly true of the relationship between parent and child.

Parents are frequently viewed through the narrow lens of their parental role. Children, especially when young, often imagine their parents as existing solely within the family structure. As adolescents mature, they gradually discover that their parents possess identities beyond motherhood and fatherhood. They are individuals with histories, ambitions, friendships, vulnerabilities, and, in many cases, romantic and sexual lives.

There is something psychologically healthy about this realization. It helps young people understand that adulthood is complex and multifaceted. It humanizes parents. It encourages empathy. It dismantles unrealistic expectations of parental perfection.

However, acknowledging a parent’s humanity is not the same as participating in or becoming involved with that parent’s sexuality.

The distinction is subtle but crucial.

A teenager can understand that a parent is a sexual being without being invited into the parent’s sexual world. He can appreciate that bodies are natural without being asked to engage with a parent’s erotic self-expression. He can learn that desire is not shameful while still maintaining the emotional and psychological boundaries that allow the parent-child relationship to remain secure and well-defined.

In philosophical terms, boundaries are often misunderstood. They are commonly portrayed as restrictions imposed upon freedom. Yet many thinkers have argued the opposite: boundaries are what make meaningful relationships possible. Friendship differs from romance because of boundaries. Teaching differs from parenting because of boundaries. Public life differs from private life because of boundaries.

Boundaries do not diminish intimacy; they shape it.

A relationship without boundaries is not necessarily freer. It may simply become confused.

The healthiest approach, then, is neither prudishness nor indiscriminate openness. It is a posture of thoughtful awareness. Such awareness permits honest conversations about bodies, attraction, love, and sexuality. It allows questions to be answered without embarrassment. It rejects the notion that sexual feelings are inherently dirty or corrupting. At the same time, it recognizes that not every truth needs to be experienced firsthand within every relationship.

The challenge facing modern society is not merely to become more sexually liberated. It is to become more psychologically and ethically sophisticated. True maturity involves the ability to hold two ideas simultaneously: that sexuality is a natural and valuable dimension of human existence, and that healthy relationships require appropriate forms of distance, privacy, and respect.

This balance may be less dramatic than either repression or radical openness, but it is arguably more humane. It allows sexuality to be integrated rather than hidden, acknowledged rather than worshipped, and understood as one thread within the larger tapestry of human life.

In the end, wisdom lies not in denying our nature, nor in exposing every aspect of it. Wisdom lies in understanding where each aspect of our humanity belongs, and in honoring the unique dignity of every relationship we inhabit.

As a single mother, I believe it is especially important that my children understand that I am more than a caretaker, provider, chauffeur, homework helper, and problem solver. Parenthood is one of the most important parts of who I am, but it is not the entirety of who I am.

Too often, mothers are expected to disappear into the role of motherhood. Society celebrates the sacrifices a mother makes, yet sometimes forgets that beneath the title of “Mom” remains a complete human being—with dreams, ambitions, friendships, emotional needs, and, yes, a sexual nature.

My children do not need to know every detail of my private life. Healthy boundaries matter. But I do want them to understand a simple truth: becoming a mother did not erase my humanity.

I want them to grow up knowing that adults have needs beyond work and responsibility. We need companionship. We need affection. We need intimacy. We need moments of joy, pleasure, and connection that belong solely to ourselves. These are not selfish desires; they are part of what makes us human.

For a single parent, this lesson can be particularly important. In the absence of a partner, children can sometimes unconsciously begin to view their parent solely through the lens of service—someone who is always available, always sacrificing, always putting everyone else’s needs first. While love often involves sacrifice, a healthy life cannot be built entirely upon self-denial.

I hope my children learn from my example that caring for others and caring for oneself are not opposing values. They are complementary ones.

If they see me making space for friendships, personal interests, romance, intimacy, or simply private moments that belong to me, I hope they understand that this is not a rejection of motherhood. It is an affirmation of personhood.

One day they will build lives of their own. They will fall in love, pursue careers, develop passions, and seek fulfillment beyond their responsibilities to others. When that day comes, I want them to remember that their mother taught them, not only through words but through example, that a meaningful life includes both giving and receiving, both responsibility and pleasure, both service and self-expression.

The deepest lesson I hope to leave them is this: no human being should be reduced to a single role.

A mother is a mother, but she is also a woman.

A father is a father, but he is also a man.

And every person, regardless of age or responsibility, deserves the freedom to remain fully human while fulfilling the roles that life asks of them.

The Unspoken Reality of Single Parenthood: The Need for Intimacy

One of the least discussed aspects of single parenthood is that the parent does not cease to be a human being simply because they are raising children alone.

When society looks at a single mother or father, it often sees responsibility, sacrifice, resilience, and devotion. These qualities are real. Single parents frequently carry the weight of an entire household on their shoulders. They provide emotional support, financial stability, guidance, protection, and love, often without the benefit of a partner sharing the burden.

What is less frequently acknowledged is that behind all of these responsibilities remains an individual with emotional, physical, and intimate needs.

For many single parents, the absence of a partner is not merely the absence of help with childcare or household duties. It is also the absence of companionship, affection, touch, romance, and sexual intimacy. These are not superficial luxuries. They are fundamental aspects of human experience.

Human beings are social and relational creatures. We seek connection. We seek closeness. We seek moments where we are cared for rather than always being the one doing the caring. Sexuality is one part of that broader human need for intimacy and connection.

As a single mother, I believe it is important that my children eventually understand that motherhood did not erase these needs. My love for my children is immense, but it does not replace every other dimension of my humanity. A child can fulfill many emotional roles in a parent’s life, but a child cannot and should not be expected to replace adult companionship, romance, or intimacy.

This distinction matters.

Too often, single parents are placed on a pedestal of perpetual self-sacrifice. They are admired when they give endlessly and judged when they acknowledge personal desires. Yet no one would expect a married parent to abandon intimacy with their spouse after having children. Why should a single parent be expected to abandon that part of themselves simply because they do not currently have a partner?

The need for sexual expression does not disappear with parenthood. The need for affection does not disappear with parenthood. The desire to feel attractive, desired, connected, and emotionally fulfilled does not disappear with parenthood.

These needs are not evidence of selfishness. They are evidence of humanity.

I want my children to understand that adults do not stop being complete people when they become parents. They continue to have dreams, ambitions, friendships, private lives, and intimate needs. Recognizing this truth helps children develop a healthier and more realistic understanding of adulthood itself.

One day my children will grow up and build lives of their own. They will seek love. They will seek connection. They will seek relationships that bring meaning and fulfillment. I hope they understand that their mother deserved those things too.

The lesson is not that sexuality should define a person’s identity. The lesson is that it should not be erased from it.

A single parent’s need for intimacy is not a failure of devotion to their children. It is simply a reminder that even the strongest, most selfless parent remains a human being—with a heart that seeks connection, a body that experiences desire, and a life that extends beyond the role of motherhood or fatherhood.

To acknowledge that reality is not selfish.

It is honest.

And Yes, a single mother like myself can voluntarily have multiple consensual partners and practice safe sex. Parenthood, by itself, does not eliminate an adult’s right to make personal relationship choices.

From an ethical perspective, the key considerations are generally:

• All relationships are consensual and involve informed adults.

• Sexual activity is conducted responsibly and safely.

• The parent’s choices do not compromise their ability to care for, protect, and support their children.

• Appropriate boundaries are maintained between the parent’s intimate life and the parent-child relationship.

• Honesty, respect, and responsibility guide interactions with partners.

Whether a mother chooses monogamy, casual dating, multiple partners, polyamory, celibacy, or another relationship structure is ultimately a personal decision. Different cultures, religions, and individuals may hold different moral views on these choices, but the fact of being a mother does not automatically require a person to abandon their sexuality or romantic autonomy.

Motherhood is a profound responsibility, but it is not a vow of self-erasure.

A woman does not cease to be a complete human being when she becomes a mother. She remains an individual with her own identity, aspirations, emotions, and desires. The role of parent becomes an important part of her life, but it does not consume every other aspect of her existence.

For some women, this may include the desire for romantic relationships, sexual intimacy, or connections with more than one partner. When these relationships are entered into freely, honestly, and responsibly between consenting adults, they represent personal choices about how to live and love rather than a rejection of motherhood.

The measure of a parent is not the number of partners they have or the relationship structure they choose. The more meaningful questions are whether they act with integrity, whether they treat others with respect, and whether they fulfill their responsibilities toward their children.

A mother can be deeply devoted to her children while also acknowledging her own need for affection, companionship, intimacy, and sexual expression. These dimensions of life are not necessarily in conflict. Human beings are capable of occupying multiple roles simultaneously: parent, friend, professional, lover, caregiver, and individual.

A mature understanding of adulthood recognizes that people cannot be reduced to a single identity. Parenthood is one chapter of a person’s humanity, not the whole book.

The challenge is not to choose between being a good parent and being a fulfilled adult. The challenge is to live both roles with awareness, responsibility, and respect for the people whose lives we touch.

I have been asked this questions by many people whom I interact with online

“On the Internet, your pictures—whether nudes, bikini photos, modeling shots, or other personal content—stay forever and can be seen at any time. Even in 20 years people may still be looking at them. Have you thought about that?”

The central message is not really about nudity—it is about digital permanence.

The question being posed is: Are you comfortable with the fact that once images are shared online, you may lose control over who sees them, how long they remain available, and how they might be viewed in the future?

The image raises issues such as:

• Long-term privacy and reputation.

• The permanence of online content.

• Future employers, partners, children, friends, or strangers potentially seeing old images.

• The difference between making a choice today and living with that choice decades later.

• Personal autonomy versus social consequences.

Different people answer the question differently. For me it is the benefits of self-expression, artistic work, modeling, activism, or body positivity outweigh the risks. Others decide that the loss of control over their images is too significant.

The important point is that the image is asking for informed consent to one’s own digital legacy: not “Is nudity wrong?” but rather “Have you considered that the internet may remember long after you have moved on?”

My thoughtful response to everyone would be:

“Yes, I have thought about it. Every photo I share is a choice I make knowing that the internet has a long memory. I cannot control who sees it in the future, but I can decide whether the image reflects my values and whether I am willing to stand by that decision years from now.”

The question is usually framed as being about nudity, modesty, or public exposure. But I think the real question is much deeper than that.

It is not really asking, “Are you comfortable being seen?”

It is asking, “Are you comfortable with permanence?”

The internet has a long memory. Once something is published online, complete control over it is often lost. Images can be saved, copied, shared, archived, rediscovered, and viewed years or even decades later. That reality raises important questions about privacy, reputation, relationships, family, and the long-term consequences of our choices.

People often point out that future employers may see those images. Future partners may see them. Friends, strangers, and even my children may encounter them one day.

These are legitimate considerations.

And the answer is yes—I have thought about them.

I have thought about them carefully.

Every photograph I share is a conscious decision. It is not an accident. It is not something I stumbled into without reflection. I understand that the internet may remember long after I have moved on from a particular chapter of my life.

The question then becomes: should the possibility of being remembered prevent me from expressing myself today?

For me, the answer is no.

That does not mean everyone should make the same choice. Different people have different values, comfort levels, careers, goals, and boundaries. What feels empowering to one person may feel uncomfortable to another. Both positions are valid.

But I have chosen to approach the issue from the perspective of authenticity rather than fear.

When I share a photograph, I ask myself a simple question:

“Does this image reflect who I am and what I stand for?”

If the answer is yes, then I am comfortable with the possibility that it may exist long into the future.

I believe that self-expression, artistic work, modeling, body positivity, confidence, and personal freedom can all be legitimate reasons for sharing images of ourselves. I do not believe that the mere possibility of future judgment should automatically prevent someone from making choices that align with their values.

Many people live in fear of being seen.

I would rather focus on being authentic.

Of course, authenticity comes with responsibility. Every choice has consequences. Every public action carries some degree of risk. I do not deny that reality. I simply believe that avoiding all risk often means avoiding many meaningful experiences as well.

What matters to me is not whether every person approves of my choices.

What matters is whether I can stand behind them.

Twenty years from now, I may be older. My life may look very different. My priorities may have changed. But if I can look back and say, “That was an honest expression of who I was at that moment in my life,” then I will have no regrets.

The internet may remember.

And I am at peace with that.

Because my goal has never been to create a perfectly controlled legacy. My goal has been to live authentically, make thoughtful choices, and take responsibility for them.

So when people ask whether I have thought about the permanence of what I share online, my answer is simple:

Yes, I have.

Every photo I share is a choice I make knowing that the internet has a long memory. I cannot control who sees it in the future, but I can decide whether the image reflects my values and whether I am willing to stand by that decision years from now.

And for me, that is enough.

What fascinates me is that the question is rarely about technology. It is usually about fear.

Fear of being judged.

Fear of being misunderstood.

Fear of future consequences.

Fear of being remembered for something that others may not approve of.

The question is not whether I understand that reality.

The question is whether I am willing to live my life according to it.

For many people, the answer is no. They prefer privacy. They prefer anonymity. They prefer to keep certain aspects of themselves offline. I respect that completely.

But my answer is different.

I believe there is a cost to hiding as well.

Many people talk about the risks of being seen, but very few talk about the risks of never allowing yourself to be seen at all.

We spend years worrying about criticism from people who may never play any meaningful role in our lives. We censor ourselves in anticipation of judgments that may never come. We shrink our personalities, hide our creativity, suppress our confidence, and avoid authentic self-expression because of hypothetical future disapproval.

I understand that temptation.

But I also understand something else.

One day, my life will be over.

One day, all of us will be gone.

The photographs will remain for a while.

The memories will remain for a while.

The stories will remain for a while.

And eventually, even those will fade.

When viewed from that perspective, I find myself asking a different question:

What kind of life do I want to live while I am here?

Do I want to spend it constantly worried about whether every choice will be universally approved?

Do I want to spend it hiding aspects of myself because someone, somewhere, sometime in the future might disagree?

Or do I want to live honestly, thoughtfully, and authentically?

I choose the latter.

That does not mean I share everything without consideration.

Quite the opposite.

Every image I post is a decision.

Every photograph represents a moment when I asked myself whether I was comfortable standing behind that choice.

Not just today.

Not just next year.

But potentially decades from now.

The answer is not always yes.

But when it is yes, I accept the consequences that come with that decision.

I think there is a misconception that confidence means acting without reflection.

For me, confidence means acting after reflection.

It means considering the risks and proceeding anyway because the decision aligns with my values.

I am comfortable with the possibility that future versions of myself may look back on old photographs.

I am comfortable with the possibility that other people may do the same.

Why?

Because those images represent a real person at a real moment in time.

A woman learning.

Growing.

Traveling.

Experiencing life.

Expressing herself.

Being imperfectly human.

I do not expect everyone to understand or agree with every choice I make.

That has never been the goal.

The goal is not universal approval.

The internet’s permanence forces us to confront an uncomfortable question:

Are we willing to be accountable for our choices?

Many people want freedom without permanence.

Visibility without consequences.

Expression without responsibility.

I do not see it that way.

If I choose to share something publicly, I accept that it becomes part of my story.

That does not mean I must remain frozen in that moment forever. Human beings evolve. We change. We grow. We gain wisdom. We develop new perspectives.

But I do not believe growth requires denying who we once were.

I can acknowledge the woman I was ten years ago while still becoming someone different today.

I can respect previous versions of myself without being trapped by them.

Perhaps that is why the possibility of being remembered does not frighten me as much as it frightens some people.

What would frighten me more is reaching the end of my life and realizing that I spent too much of it trying to avoid judgment.

Too much time worrying about opinions.

Too much time seeking permission.

Too much time hiding.

The internet may remember.

People may remember.

Or perhaps they won’t.

Ultimately, I cannot control that.

What I can control is whether my choices reflect my values.

Whether I acted thoughtfully.

Whether I was honest with myself.

Whether I lived authentically.

So when people ask me if I have thought about the fact that my photographs may still exist twenty years from now, my answer remains simple:

Yes.

I have thought about it.

I understand it.

I accept it.

And I would rather be remembered for living authentically than spend my life disappearing for the comfort of others.

When I found a folder on my teenage son’s laptop containing selected clips from the television series / movies , including scenes with sexual content, I did not react with panic. My first thought was not that something was wrong with him, but that he is a teenager navigating a stage of life filled with curiosity, questions, and new feelings.

While it certainly got my attention, I did not view it as evidence that something was wrong with him. Adolescence is a time of curiosity, and many teenagers become interested in sexuality and human body long before they feel comfortable discussing it openly.

My concern is not simply whether he has seen pornography/nudity. My concern is whether he develops a healthy understanding of sex, relationships, consent, respect, and human connection. Pornography can present a distorted version of reality, so I believe it is important that young people learn the difference between entertainment, fantasy, and real-life relationships.

What matters most to me is maintaining honest communication. I want my son to know that he can ask questions without fear of shame or humiliation. I would rather have difficult conversations than leave him to learn everything from the internet.

At the same time, I pay attention to whether his online habits are affecting other parts of his life. If pornography were interfering with school, sleep, friendships, hobbies, or emotional well-being, that would concern me. Curiosity is one thing; compulsive behavior is another.

My goal is not to police every thought or mistake. My goal is to help him grow into a respectful, responsible young man who understands that sexuality is only one part of being human and that healthy relationships are built on respect, trust, communication, and consent.

I understand that adolescence is a time when young people become increasingly interested in sexuality, attraction, relationships, and intimacy. In today’s world, television, movies, social media, and the internet make that content easily accessible. Discovering that my son had saved clips from a show containing sex scenes did not strike me as unusual in itself.

What mattered more to me was understanding the context.

The more important questions to me were:

• Is this occasional curiosity, or is it becoming a major focus of his time and attention?

• Does he understand that TV shows are scripted entertainment, not realistic guides to relationships?

• Is he still engaged in school, friends, sports, hobbies, and family life?

• Can he discuss questions about sex and relationships without fear or shame?

• Is he developing respectful attitudes toward other people?

I was less concerned about the existence of the clips and more interested in what they meant. Was this simply curiosity? Was it part of a broader interest in understanding sexuality? Or was it beginning to affect other areas of his life? Those were the questions that seemed important to me.

I paid attention to whether he remained engaged in school, friendships, hobbies, sports, and family life. I considered whether he seemed happy, healthy, and balanced. I thought about whether he was developing a realistic understanding of relationships and whether he understood the difference between entertainment and real life.

One of the things I want my son to understand is that television, movies and media are not education. They are stories designed to entertain. Just as action shows are not accurate representations of everyday life, sexual scenes in television dramas / movies are not necessarily realistic depictions of intimacy, relationships, communication, or emotional connection.

Real relationships involve trust, mutual respect, communication, consent, vulnerability, and consideration for another person’s feelings. Those are lessons I hope he learns through conversations, experience, and healthy examples rather than from fictional entertainment.

I also want him to know that curiosity itself is not something he needs to be ashamed of. Growing up involves asking questions and trying to understand aspects of life that are new and unfamiliar. I would much rather my son feel comfortable talking to me than feel that he must hide every question or curiosity out of fear of judgment.

That does not mean I ignore what I find. It means I try to approach it thoughtfully.

My role as a parent is not simply to police behavior. My role is to help him develop judgment, self-awareness, and respect. I want him to learn how to think critically about what he watches, how to separate fantasy from reality, and how to treat other people with dignity.

Most importantly, I want to maintain a relationship where communication remains possible. I do not want sexuality to become a subject associated only with shame, secrecy, or fear. I want it to be something that can be discussed honestly, respectfully, and with maturity.

Finding those clips reminded me that my son is growing up. It reminded me that he is entering a stage of life where curiosity is natural and questions are inevitable. Rather than reacting with alarm, I chose to see it as an opportunity for guidance and conversation.

My goal is not to raise a teenager who never encounters sexual content. In today’s world, that is unrealistic. My goal is to raise a young man who understands respect, consent, responsibility, emotional connection, and the difference between entertainment and real relationships. If I can help him develop those values, then I believe he will be better equipped to navigate adulthood than if he simply learns to hide his curiosity.

I chose to address it, in a calm conversation that is often more productive than confrontation.

"I noticed you had saved some clips from Series and Movies. I'm not interested in shaming you or getting you into trouble. I understand that you're curious and that sexual content can be interesting at your age. What matters to me is that you understand the difference between entertainment and real relationships, and that you can talk to me if you have questions."

A response like that keeps communication open while still providing guidance.

One thing worth remembering is that many teenagers save clips because they are curious, because they find the actors attractive, or because the scenes are exciting or emotionally charged. That does not automatically indicate a problem. What tends to matter more is whether the behavior becomes compulsive, secretive, distressing, or begins to interfere with healthy development and everyday life.

As a parent, your goal does not have to be eliminating every instance of sexual curiosity. A more realistic goal is helping your son develop a healthy understanding of sexuality, consent, relationships, privacy, and respect as he grows into adulthood.

When I discovered pornography on my teenage son’s laptop, I chose not to treat the situation as a crisis. My first concern was not the existence of the content itself, but the broader context surrounding it.

A few important points:

• The Oedipus complex is not the same thing as a child having a close relationship with his mother.

• It is not the same thing as a teenager finding a parent attractive, being curious about sexuality, or feeling embarrassed when peers comment on a parent.

  The Oedipus complex is a concept developed by Sigmund Freud in the early 1900s.

Freud proposed that during early childhood, a boy unconsciously develops a strong attachment to his mother and may view his father as a rival for her attention.

I asked myself whether it was affecting important areas of his life. Was it interfering with his mood, sleep, school performance, friendships, hobbies, or daily responsibilities? Was it becoming a distraction that prevented him from engaging fully with the real world around him? These questions seemed more important to me than the simple fact that he had viewed sexual content.

I also considered what lessons he might be taking from it. Adolescence is a time when young people are developing their understanding of attraction, intimacy, relationships, consent, and communication. Because pornography is designed primarily as entertainment, it often presents a limited or unrealistic picture of these subjects. I want my son to understand that real relationships involve mutual respect, trust, communication, emotional connection, and consent—qualities that are not always represented accurately online.

Another concern is whether pornography begins to replace normal social development. Teenagers need opportunities to build friendships, learn social skills, navigate emotions, and develop healthy relationships with peers. If online content starts replacing those experiences, it can become a problem regardless of the specific content being viewed.

I also pay attention to whether there is a sense of shame, secrecy, or loss of control surrounding the behavior. Curiosity is one thing; feeling trapped by a habit is another. I want my son to feel comfortable asking questions and discussing difficult topics rather than believing he must hide every aspect of his development from the people who care about him.

Most importantly, I want him to understand the difference between fantasy and reality. Human beings often engage with fictional stories, fantasies, and imagined scenarios across many areas of life. The ability to distinguish those fantasies from real-world expectations is an important part of maturity. The same principle applies to sexual content.

I want my son to understand privacy, consent, respect, personal responsibility, and empathy. I want him to understand that every person deserves to be treated as a complete human being, not merely as an object of attraction. I want him to know that attraction itself is normal, but that respect must always come first.

For these reasons, I believe that open communication is often more effective than panic or punishment. A teenager who feels able to talk honestly with a parent about sexuality, relationships, questions, and concerns is generally in a stronger position than one who feels forced to navigate those topics alone.

My goal is not to create fear or shame around sexuality. My goal is to help my son develop the knowledge, judgment, and values that will allow him to approach sexuality and relationships with maturity, respect, and responsibility throughout his life.

I did not view it as evidence that something was wrong with him. Adolescence is a time of curiosity, and many teenagers become interested in sexuality long before they feel comfortable discussing it openly.

My concern is not simply whether he has seen pornography. My concern is whether he develops a healthy understanding of sex, relationships, consent, respect, and human connection. Pornography can present a distorted version of reality, so I believe it is important that young people learn the difference between entertainment, fantasy, and real-life relationships.

What matters most to me is maintaining honest communication. I want my son to know that he can ask questions without fear of shame or humiliation. I would rather have difficult conversations than leave him to learn everything from the internet.

At the same time, I pay attention to whether his online habits are affecting other parts of his life. If pornography were interfering with school, sleep, friendships, hobbies, or emotional well-being, that would concern me. Curiosity is one thing; compulsive behavior is another.

My goal is not to police every thought or mistake. My goal is to help him grow into a respectful, responsible young man who understands that sexuality is only one part of being human and that healthy relationships are built on respect, trust, communication, and consent.

I sometimes wonder whether my son understands that I am more than just his mother. To him, I have always been the person who cared for him, guided him, supported him, and helped him navigate life. That role will always be the most important part of my relationship with him.

It’s possible that my son understands, at least in a general way, that I am an adult woman with your own life, relationships, and needs. Many teenagers realize that their parents are not only parents—they are also individuals with identities, friendships, careers, emotions, and, in many cases, romantic or sexual lives.

However, understanding this and wanting to think about it are two different things.

Many teenagers intellectually know that their parents have romantic or sexual relationships, but they often prefer not to dwell on the details. That’s a normal part of adolescent development. The discomfort is usually less about judgment and more about the awkwardness of connecting the role of “Mom” or “Dad” with aspects of adult life that feel private.

Unless you’ve had direct conversations about it, it’s difficult to know exactly what your son thinks. He may:

• Understand that you date or have relationships.

• Assume that you have a private adult life without thinking much about it.

• Feel curious, indifferent, or occasionally awkward about the topic.

• Prefer clear boundaries between his world and your private relationships.

In general, teenagers do not need detailed knowledge of a parent’s sexual activity. What tends to matter most for their development is understanding broader principles:

• Adults can have healthy romantic relationships.

• Sexuality is a normal part of adult life.

• Relationships should involve respect, consent, honesty, and care.

• Everyone deserves privacy and personal boundaries.

As the topic ever comes up, I find it helpful to keep the conversation focused on values rather than personal details.

“I’m your mother, but I’m also a person with my own life, friendships, and relationships. Just as you’ll have your own private adult life someday, I have mine. What’s important is that relationships are based on respect, honesty, and care for one another.”

That acknowledges my humanity without placing my son in the position of processing information about my specific sexual activities.

The key question is usually not whether he knows I am sexually active, but whether he understands that parents are complete human beings with lives beyond parenting while still maintaining healthy parent-child boundaries. For most teenagers, that understanding develops naturally as they mature.

At the same time, I am also a complete human being with my own thoughts, experiences, dreams, friendships, and relationships. Like every adult, I have emotional needs, a personal life, and parts of my identity that exist independently of motherhood.

As my son grows older, I recognize that he is beginning to understand the world in more complex ways. He is learning that parents are not simply parental figures but individuals with lives that extend beyond their children. Just as one day he will have his own private relationships, experiences, and adult life, I have mine.

I do not expect him to think about the intimate details of my personal life, nor do I believe that he needs to. Every healthy relationship includes boundaries and privacy. My role is not to share every aspect of my life with him but to help him understand that adulthood includes many dimensions, including relationships, emotional connection, and intimacy.

What matters most to me is that he understands that sexuality is a normal part of adult life rather than something shameful or secretive. I hope he grows up understanding that healthy relationships are built on respect, honesty, trust, communication, and consent. Those values matter far more than the specific details of anyone’s private life.

I also hope he understands that becoming a mother did not erase my identity as a woman. Motherhood became an important part of who I am, but it did not replace every other part of me. I am still a person with my own interests, goals, friendships, emotions, and experiences. Those things can coexist with being a loving and devoted parent.

As he matures, I imagine he will increasingly recognize that the adults in his life are more complex than they appeared when he was younger. That realization is a natural part of growing up. It does not diminish the parent-child relationship; it simply adds depth to it.

Ultimately, I do not need my son to know every detail of my life. What I hope he understands is something much simpler: that I am a human being as well as a mother, deserving of the same respect, privacy, happiness, and personal fulfillment that I hope he will one day seek for himself.

I would rather be noticed while I am alive than spend my life trying to be invisible. One day, all of us will be gone, and the world will continue without us. Our voices will fall silent, our footprints will fade, and eventually even our names may be forgotten.

That reality does not make life less meaningful—it makes it more meaningful.

Life is brief. We are given only a limited amount of time to experience, create, connect, love, and leave our mark on the world. I see little value in hiding who I am out of fear of judgment. I would rather live authentically, express myself honestly, and be remembered for having the courage to be myself than spend my years trying to satisfy everyone else’s expectations.

Being noticed is not about seeking attention for its own sake. It is about refusing to shrink myself. It is about allowing myself to be seen, heard, and understood while I have the opportunity.

When my life is over, there will be no photographs to take, no oceans to swim in, no sunsets to admire, no adventures to pursue, and no loved ones to embrace. The time to live is now.

So if I am going to be remembered for anything, I hope it is for living fully, loving deeply, speaking honestly, and embracing life without unnecessary shame or fear. Because the chance to be seen exists only while we are here.

And while I am here, I intend to live—not hide.

I am not trying to be perfect. I am simply choosing to be authentic. I choose gratitude over shame, self-respect over self-criticism, and confidence over fear. I am proud of the woman I have become, proud of the life I have built, and proud of the body that has accompanied me every step of the way.

So yes, I am proud of my curves, and I am not afraid to flaunt them. Not because I need anyone’s approval, but because I have finally learned to give myself my own.

I would rather be noticed while I am alive than spend my life trying to disappear.

That does not mean I want constant attention, admiration, or approval. It means I refuse to spend my limited time on this earth hiding parts of myself out of fear of what others might think. Too many people move through life trying to avoid criticism, avoid judgment, avoid standing out, and avoid making anyone uncomfortable. In doing so, they often end up avoiding life itself.

The reality is that every human being has a limited amount of time. No matter how successful, beautiful, wealthy, intelligent, or influential we are, we all share the same destination. One day our journey ends. The conversations stop. The photographs become memories. The places we visited become places we once visited. The life that felt so immediate becomes part of the past.

Knowing this has never made me pessimistic. Quite the opposite.

It has made me appreciate the privilege of being alive.

It has made me realize that life is not a rehearsal. There is no practice version waiting somewhere in the future. The days we are living now are the days that make up our lives. Every experience, every friendship, every adventure, every risk, every lesson, every act of courage or vulnerability contributes to the story we are writing.

For that reason, I see little value in shrinking myself to fit comfortably inside other people’s expectations.

Some people may disagree with my choices.

Some people may judge how I dress, how I live, what I believe, how I travel, what I share, or how I choose to express myself.

That is their right.

But it is not my responsibility to build my life around avoiding their opinions.

I have learned that no matter what we do, someone will approve and someone will disapprove. If we are quiet, we are criticized for not speaking. If we speak, we are criticized for saying too much. If we are ambitious, we are accused of seeking attention. If we are modest, we are accused of lacking confidence.

Trying to satisfy everyone is a lifelong project that never succeeds.

Authenticity, however, offers freedom.

When I look back on my life, I do not want my memories to be dominated by fear. I do not want to remember all the opportunities I avoided because I was worried about being judged. I do not want to remember the experiences I declined because someone might disapprove. I do not want to remember constantly editing myself to fit expectations that were never truly mine.

I would rather remember the places I explored, the people I loved, the conversations that changed me, the moments that made me laugh, the risks that taught me something valuable, and the experiences that made me feel fully alive.

To be noticed is not necessarily to be famous.

Sometimes it simply means being present.

Being present in your own life.

Having the courage to express your ideas.

Having the confidence to pursue your interests.

Having the willingness to take up space in the world rather than apologizing for your existence.

There is a difference between seeking validation and refusing invisibility.

Validation depends on the approval of others.

Authenticity depends on self-acceptance.

The older I get, the more I realize that most of the things people worry about are forgotten surprisingly quickly. The criticism that feels overwhelming today often becomes insignificant tomorrow. The opinions that seem so important in one season of life rarely matter in the next.

What remains are the experiences we had and the person we became through them.

One day, none of us will be here.

The photographs will remain for a while.

The stories will remain for a while.

The memories will remain for a while.

And eventually, even those will fade.

That is precisely why I believe life should be lived fully rather than cautiously.

I want to experience the world.

I want to learn.

I want to connect.

I want to love deeply, laugh often, remain curious, and continue growing.

I want to leave behind memories rather than regrets.

And if being authentic means being noticed along the way, I welcome that.

Because there will come a day when I can no longer be seen, heard, or remembered.

Until then, I choose to participate fully in the extraordinary privilege of being alive.

When I wear a bikini, I hope my sons see more than a piece of swimwear. I hope they see a confident woman who is comfortable in her own skin, who is not ashamed of her body, and who understands that self-worth is about far more than appearance.

I want them to see that confidence and dignity are not opposites. A woman can be confident without being arrogant, comfortable without being careless, and attractive without existing for the approval of others. My choice to wear a bikini is not a statement about my morality, intelligence, or character. It is simply a choice of clothing appropriate for the environment.

Most importantly, I want my sons to understand that a woman’s value is not determined by how much or how little she wears. Whether a woman is in a bikini, a business suit, workout clothes, or a winter coat, she deserves the same respect. Her clothing may change, but her humanity does not.

I hope they see me as someone who has learned to accept herself rather than constantly criticize herself. I grew up in a world that often told women to be ashamed of their bodies, to hide imperfections, and to seek validation from others. One of the lessons I want my sons to learn is that self-respect comes from within. Confidence is not about having a perfect body; it is about accepting the body you have and refusing to let shame define your relationship with it.

I also want them to understand that seeing a confident woman should not diminish their ability to see the whole person. I am not just a body. I am their mother, a woman with experiences, responsibilities, strengths, flaws, dreams, and values. If there is one lesson I hope they carry into adulthood, it is that every woman they meet deserves to be seen with that same depth and humanity.

So when I wear a bikini or when I go nude, I don’t expect my sons to see a symbol, a controversy, or an object. I hope they simply see a confident woman who is comfortable being herself and who wants them to grow up respecting both themselves and others.

I also want my sons to understand an important reality about the world: people will have their own opinions, interpretations, attractions, judgments, and assumptions about others. That is simply part of living in a society.

If someone chooses to view me primarily through the lens of my appearance, that says more about their perspective than it does about my value as a person. I cannot control how every individual sees me, and I don’t think it is healthy to spend my life trying to manage the thoughts that exist in other people’s minds.

What I hope my sons learn is the difference between who a person is and how they may be perceived. The two are not always the same. A woman can be confident, intelligent, compassionate, accomplished, and complex, yet some people may focus only on her appearance. That reality exists whether she is wearing a bikini, a business suit, or anything else.

I don’t want my sons to carry the burden of worrying about what strangers think of their mother. People’s opinions belong to them. Attraction belongs to them. Judgments belong to them. What matters is having enough self-confidence and emotional maturity to understand that another person’s perception does not define reality.

At the same time, I want my sons to treat others with respect and humanity. They cannot control how the world sees people, but they can choose how they see people. My hope is that they learn to look beyond appearances and recognize the depth, character, and individuality in every person they meet.

For me, confidence is not expecting universal approval. Confidence is being comfortable with the fact that people will interpret me in different ways and choosing not to let those interpretations determine my sense of self-worth. That is the lesson I hope my sons carry with them: know who you are, treat others with dignity, and don’t allow your identity to be dictated by the opinions of strangers.

I am incredibly proud of my sons for understanding something that many adults struggle to grasp: clothing does not define a person’s character, identity, or worth.

Whether the world sees me in a bikini, wrapped in a burkha, dressed in a business suit, or in any other form of attire, I remain the same person. My values, my heart, my experiences, my love for my children, and my identity do not change with what I am wearing.

What makes me proud is that my sons have learned to look beyond appearances. They understand that people may see me differently depending on their own beliefs, culture, experiences, or assumptions, but those perceptions do not change who I am. To them, I am not a swimsuit, a dress, a uniform, or a symbol in someone else’s debate. I am their mother.

They understand that a person’s humanity is deeper than their appearance. They know that respect should not be conditional on how much or how little someone wears. They know that dignity is not measured in inches of fabric.

As a mother, that lesson means more to me than almost anything else. It tells me that they are learning to judge people by their character rather than by appearances. Most of all, I am proud that they have enough confidence in who I am that they do not allow the opinions of strangers to redefine me in their eyes. The world may have its own interpretations, attractions, judgments, or assumptions, but my sons know me beyond any of that.

They know that beneath every label, every opinion, every outfit, and every perception, I am still the same woman who loves them, supports them, and will always be their mother. And that understanding is worth far more to me than the approval or disapproval of anyone else.

I believe that our bodies are temporary, constantly changing, and ultimately finite. The person I am today will not look exactly the same in ten, twenty, or thirty years. Age, experience, and time leave their mark on all of us, and there is something profoundly human about accepting that reality rather than fearing it.

For me, being seen in my most natural state is not about perfection. It is about authenticity. It is about recognizing that this body, with all its strengths and imperfections, is part of my story. I do not see it as something to be hidden out of shame, but as something to appreciate while it is here.

I know that I will not always have the same appearance, the same energy, or the same physical form. That understanding makes me value the present more deeply. When I choose to be seen in my most natural form, I am not trying to freeze time or seek validation. Rather, I am acknowledging a simple truth: this is who I am in this moment of my life. The body will change, but the person within it—the values, experiences, relationships, memories, and character that define me—will remain far more important than any physical appearance.

To me, there is something freeing about accepting both visibility and impermanence. It is a reminder that beauty is not found in preserving youth forever, but in fully inhabiting the life and body I have today. Tomorrow I will be older. Years from now I will be different. But right now, this is me, and I choose to meet that reality with gratitude rather than shame.

I believe that one of the greatest spiritual lessons life has taught me is impermanence. Everything changes. Our circumstances change, our relationships evolve, our beliefs mature, and our bodies age. No matter how much we may wish to hold onto a particular moment, time continues moving forward. For me, this realization has profoundly shaped the way I view my body, nudity, and spirituality.

I know that I will not have this body forever. The woman I am today will not look exactly the same ten, twenty, or thirty years from now. My skin will change. My shape will change. My physical abilities will change. That is not a tragedy; it is the natural rhythm of life itself. Rather than resisting that truth, I have come to see acceptance of it as a spiritual practice.

Many spiritual traditions teach that suffering often arises when we cling to things that are temporary. We suffer when we try to hold on to youth, beauty, status, possessions, or identities that are constantly shifting. The more I have reflected on this, the more I have felt called to appreciate my body as it exists today rather than viewing it as something that must be hidden, criticized, or endlessly improved before it becomes worthy of acceptance.

For me, nudity has become part of that practice of acceptance.

When I am nude, I am stripped not only of clothing but also of many of the social signals and roles that clothing represents. There are no brands, uniforms, titles, trends, or status symbols. There is simply a human being inhabiting a human body. In those moments, I feel closer to the fundamental reality of who I am.

I do not experience nudity as an act of rebellion. I experience it as an act of honesty.

It reminds me that beneath all the layers society places upon us, we are remarkably similar. Every human being arrives in this world with a body. Every human being experiences vulnerability, aging, joy, sorrow, love, loss, and mortality. Nudity has a way of revealing that shared humanity.

Spiritually, I find that realization deeply grounding.

Many people spend years at war with their own bodies. They compare themselves to impossible standards. They carry shame about perceived flaws. They learn to view their bodies primarily through the eyes of others. I understand those struggles because I have experienced them myself. Yet over time, I have found that genuine spiritual growth requires moving beyond self-rejection and toward self-acceptance.

For me, nudity became one pathway toward that acceptance.

Standing in nature without the usual barriers between myself and the world often creates a profound sense of connection. I feel the warmth of the sun, the movement of the wind, the texture of the earth, and the reality that I am not separate from nature but part of it. In those moments, I am reminded that the human body is not something unnatural or shameful. It is part of the same creation as the trees, the oceans, the mountains, and the sky.

That awareness often brings a sense of peace.

I do not see spirituality as escaping the physical world. I see spirituality as becoming fully present within it. My body is not an obstacle to my spiritual life; it is one of the ways I experience life itself. Through my senses, I experience beauty. Through my body, I experience movement, affection, creativity, and connection. Rather than viewing the body as something separate from spirituality, I have come to see it as one of spirituality’s most immediate expressions.

Nudity also reminds me of vulnerability. When I am without the layers that usually protect and define me, I am confronted with myself more directly. That vulnerability can be uncomfortable, but it can also be deeply liberating. It teaches me that my worth does not depend on presentation, performance, or perfection. It teaches me that I am enough as I am.

Perhaps most importantly, nudity reminds me of impermanence. One day this body will age beyond recognition. One day it will return to the earth from which it came. Knowing that does not make me value it less. It makes me value it more. It encourages me to appreciate this chapter of my life while I am living it.

For me, spirituality is not about worshipping the body. It is about honoring it as a temporary and precious part of the human experience. Nudity is simply one way I practice that awareness. It is a reminder that beneath every role, label, expectation, and judgment, I am a human being sharing the same journey as everyone else—a journey marked by growth, change, vulnerability, and ultimately, gratitude for the gift of being alive.

No, I am not ashamed.

I am not ashamed of enjoying a vacation. I am not ashamed of wearing a bikini at a beach or by a pool. I am not ashamed of having a body, and I am not ashamed of being seen as a woman. Nor am I afraid to be nude in appropriate naturist environments such as nudist beaches or resorts, where nudity is understood not as a performance or provocation, but simply as a natural state of being.

What surprises me is how often people assume that a woman’s body is responsible for the thoughts, morals, or behavior of others. Throughout history, women have repeatedly been told that they must dress differently, behave differently, or hide themselves in order to protect other people from temptation, distraction, or inappropriate thoughts. Yet the responsibility for a person’s thoughts and actions has always belonged to that person.

A bikini does not corrupt young minds. A woman’s body does not corrupt young minds. What truly shapes young minds are the values we teach them: respect, empathy, self-control, personal responsibility, kindness, and dignity.

As a mother, those are the values I want my sons to learn.

I do not want my sons to grow up believing that a woman’s worth is determined by the amount of fabric she wears. I do not want them to think that confidence is something women should apologize for. I do not want them to believe that attraction gives anyone ownership, entitlement, or control over another human being.

Instead, I want them to understand that women are complete human beings with their own thoughts, dreams, ambitions, strengths, flaws, and choices. I want them to learn that they can find someone attractive while still respecting that person’s boundaries, autonomy, and humanity. I want them to understand that respect is not conditional upon appearance.

Many people assume that seeing the human body automatically sexualizes it. My experience has taught me otherwise. The body is the most natural thing we possess. Every person enters this world with one. Every culture, throughout history, has had different standards regarding clothing, modesty, and exposure. These standards change across time and place, yet the human body itself remains unchanged.

When I visit a naturist beach or resort, I do not see an environment centered on sexuality. I see people swimming, reading, talking, relaxing, laughing, and enjoying nature. I see ordinary human beings choosing comfort and simplicity. In those spaces, people are often judged less by their appearance and more by their character because many of the usual social markers have been removed.

That does not mean naturism is for everyone. It is a personal choice. But choosing to be comfortable with one’s body is not something I consider shameful. In many ways, I believe that learning to accept our bodies as they are can be a powerful act of self-respect in a world that constantly tells us we need to look different, buy more, or hide our imperfections.

The lesson I hope my children learn from me is not that they must embrace naturism, wear a bikini, or share my personal choices. The lesson is much simpler: do not be ashamed of who you are. Respect yourself. Respect others. Treat people with dignity regardless of what they wear. Understand that attraction and respect can coexist, but respect must always come first.

I want my sons to see a mother who lives authentically rather than fearfully. A mother who does not allow shame to dictate her choices. A mother who understands that confidence and humility can coexist. A mother who knows that her value comes from her character, her actions, her kindness, and her integrity—not from meeting someone else’s expectations of how a woman should dress or behave.

If my children learn to respect themselves, respect others, think critically, and make their own informed choices, then I will consider that a far greater achievement than simply teaching them to conform.

So no, I am not ashamed.

I am grateful for my body. I am grateful for the experiences it allows me to have, the places it carries me, the children it brought into this world, and the life I am fortunate enough to live. I choose to experience that life with gratitude rather than shame, with confidence rather than fear, and with the belief that every person deserves the freedom to live authentically while extending that same freedom and respect to others.

What concerns me far more than a woman in a bikini—or even a nude body in a naturist environment—is the idea that a woman’s body is somehow responsible for the thoughts, morals, or behavior of others. It is not.

My sons are not being taught that women should hide themselves to protect men from their own thoughts. They are being taught something far more valuable: that women deserve respect regardless of what they wear, that attraction does not create entitlement, and that character matters more than clothing.

A bikini does not corrupt young minds. A nude body in an appropriate naturist setting does not corrupt young minds. Shame, double standards, and the belief that women must carry responsibility for other people’s reactions are far more damaging lessons.

I refuse to teach my children that confidence is something to apologize for or that a woman’s dignity depends on covering herself to someone else’s satisfaction. I want them to grow up understanding that bodies are normal, respect is essential, and that every person has the right to make their own choices without being judged for them.

If a photograph of a woman enjoying her vacation is seen as a threat to someone’s values, perhaps the issue is not the photograph.

I will continue to live authentically, raise my sons with respect and empathy, and enjoy my life without shame. That is the example I want to set, and I am proud of it.

As a woman, I have often reflected on why bikinis provoke such strong reactions in society. Some people see them as empowering, some see them as immodest, some view them as inherently sexual, and others see them as nothing more than practical swimwear. My own view is that the conversation says far more about our attitudes toward the human body than it does about the bikini itself.

When I put on a bikini, I am not putting on a sexual costume. I am putting on clothing designed for swimming, sunbathing, exercising, and enjoying the outdoors. The bikini does not magically transform my intentions, my character, or my humanity. I remain the same person I was before I put it on. I am still a woman with thoughts, emotions, values, ambitions, relationships, responsibilities, and experiences that have nothing to do with how much skin I happen to be showing.

At the same time, I do not believe in pretending that physical attraction does not exist. Human beings are visual creatures. We notice beauty. We notice fitness. We notice confidence. We notice style. We notice bodies. Attraction is a natural part of being human, and I do not think acknowledging that reality is inherently wrong.

Where I believe the problem begins is when attraction turns into reduction. There is a significant difference between appreciating someone’s appearance and reducing their identity to their appearance. I can understand someone finding a woman attractive in a bikini. What I cannot support is the idea that her value, intelligence, dignity, or worth becomes secondary to her body.

This distinction matters because women frequently experience the consequences of being viewed primarily through a physical lens. A woman can be a professional, a mother, an athlete, a leader, an artist, a thinker, or a caregiver, yet all of those qualities can disappear in the minds of some observers who focus exclusively on her appearance. The bikini did not create that mindset. The mindset existed already and simply found an opportunity to express itself.

I also think society sends contradictory messages. We celebrate beauty, fitness, and confidence in countless forms. We fill advertisements, films, magazines, and social media with images of attractive people. Yet when a woman chooses to wear a bikini at a beach, a pool, or a resort, some people suddenly treat her clothing as a moral statement. It often feels as though the body is acceptable when it serves commercial interests but controversial when an individual woman chooses how to present herself.

One of the most interesting contradictions is that people often claim that bikinis are inherently sexual while simultaneously accepting shirtless men in many public spaces without much discussion. Both men and women have bodies. Both reveal skin in certain environments. Yet cultural attitudes frequently place a heavier burden on women, as though the responsibility for managing other people’s reactions falls primarily on them.

Personally, I do not believe that wearing a bikini obligates me to avoid being attractive, nor do I believe it grants anyone permission to ignore my humanity. Attraction and respect are not mutually exclusive. Someone can think a woman looks beautiful, confident, or appealing while still recognizing that she is a complete person deserving of dignity.

I have also come to realize that much of what people call “sexualization” is often rooted in context and perception rather than the garment itself. The same bikini can mean very different things depending on the setting. On a beach it may simply be practical swimwear. In a sports competition it may be performance apparel. In advertising it may be used to sell a product. In a romantic setting it may carry a more intimate meaning. The fabric has not changed; the context has.

For me, the deeper issue is whether society can learn to separate the existence of a body from assumptions about a person’s intentions. A woman can wear a bikini because she enjoys swimming. She can wear one because she likes how it looks. She can wear one because it makes her feel confident. She can wear one because it is comfortable in the heat. None of those reasons automatically translate into a desire for sexual attention.

I also believe that confidence should not be mistaken for invitation. There is nothing wrong with feeling good about one’s body. There is nothing wrong with enjoying health, fitness, beauty, or self-expression. The ability to appreciate my own body does not mean I exist for the consumption of others. Self-confidence is an internal experience, not a public contract.

Ultimately, my position is that bikinis are neither completely devoid of sexual associations nor inherently sexual objects. They exist in a space where human nature, culture, attraction, and personal expression intersect. People will naturally have reactions to them, just as they have reactions to countless other aspects of appearance. What matters is how those reactions are handled.

As a woman, I do not expect the world to stop noticing bodies. I do not expect attraction to disappear. What I hope for is a culture where attraction is balanced with respect, where appreciation does not become objectification, and where a woman’s worth is never measured solely by the amount of skin she shows. When I wear a bikini, I am not asking to become a symbol, a fantasy, or a debate. I am simply a person wearing swimwear, deserving of the same dignity, complexity, and humanity that every person deserves.

I think of the Odyssey Effect as the way a long journey changes me from the inside out. It is not just about where I end up, but about who I become along the way.

Like Odysseus in the ancient story, I have faced challenges, detours, disappointments, temptations, and moments of self-discovery. There have been times when I thought I was searching for a destination, only to realize that the real transformation was happening within me.

The Odyssey Effect reminds me that growth rarely happens in comfort. Every setback has taught me something. Every difficult decision has revealed something about my values. Every new experience has expanded my understanding of myself and the world around me.

When I look back at the person I once was, I see someone who could not have imagined the journey ahead. The road has changed me. It has made me stronger, wiser, more compassionate, and more authentic. Even when the path has been difficult, I would not trade the lessons it has given me.

For me, the Odyssey Effect is the understanding that the greatest reward of any journey is not reaching the destination—it is becoming the person I was meant to be along the way.

Spiritually, the Odyssey Effect is my understanding that life is not merely a series of events but a journey toward deeper awareness. Every experience, whether joyful or painful, has the potential to teach me something about acceptance, compassion, freedom, and connection. The path has encouraged me to shed layers of shame, fear, and conditioning so that I can live more authentically.

In relationships, the Odyssey Effect has taught me that every person I meet becomes part of my journey. Some people have offered love, support, and encouragement. Others have challenged me, disappointed me, or forced me to reevaluate what I value. Each relationship has revealed something about who I am, what I need, and how I wish to show up for others.

In terms of personal identity, the Odyssey Effect reminds me that I am not defined by a single role, label, or chapter of my life. I am not only who I was yesterday, nor am I limited by how others see me. My identity continues to evolve as I learn, grow, and explore new dimensions of myself. The person I am becoming is just as important as the person I have been.

For me, the Odyssey Effect is the realization that life itself is the journey. Every experience leaves its mark, and every chapter contributes to the unfolding story of who I am. The destination matters, but the transformation along the way matters even more.

I also share this message with my audience. I believe that when we stop treating the body as something forbidden or scandalous, we can develop a healthier relationship with ourselves and with others. In my experience, much of the curiosity and obsession surrounding nudity comes from secrecy and stigma rather than from the body itself.

That does not mean attraction or sexuality disappear. They are natural parts of being human. What I hope to encourage is a perspective in which people can appreciate the human body without immediately reducing it to something purely sexual. When we see bodies as normal, diverse, and human, it becomes easier to practice acceptance, compassion, and respect.

My goal is not to challenge anyone else’s values, but to promote body positivity, self-acceptance, and open conversations free from shame. I want my sons and my audience to understand that confidence, dignity, and respect are far more important than hiding who we are.

That’s a viewpoint some people hold, particularly within naturist and nudist communities.

The idea is that when the human body is treated as something ordinary rather than mysterious or forbidden, it can reduce excessive curiosity, shame, and unrealistic fantasies. Advocates of social nudity often argue that regular, non-sexual exposure to diverse body types encourages body acceptance and helps people see others as whole individuals rather than focusing primarily on sexualized body parts.

However, research and personal experiences suggest the picture is more complex. Curiosity about nudity and sexuality is influenced by many factors, including culture, upbringing, personality, and social norms. Simply seeing naked people does not eliminate sexual attraction or curiosity, but it may change how people relate to the human body.

Many people find that:

• Familiarity can reduce the “forbidden fruit” effect.

• Seeing a variety of real bodies can improve body image.

• Nudity and sexuality are not necessarily the same thing.

• Respect, consent, and context remain important regardless of clothing.

Others believe that modesty serves valuable cultural, personal, or religious purposes and that curiosity is a natural part of human psychology that does not need to be eliminated.

A balanced view might be that normalizing the human body can reduce unnecessary shame and obsession, while recognizing that attraction, curiosity, and sexuality are natural aspects of being human and are unlikely to disappear entirely.

Over time, this philosophy has shaped the way I live my life. I have come to believe that authenticity is more powerful than hiding behind expectations, and that has led me to become increasingly comfortable with my own body and with being seen as I truly am.

For me, choosing to strip away layers—both literal and symbolic—is not about seeking attention or provoking reactions. It is about honesty. It is about rejecting shame and embracing the reality of being human. I want people to see the real me, not an image carefully constructed to meet someone else’s standards.

My journey has taught me that vulnerability can be a source of strength. When I present myself openly and without apology, I feel more connected to who I am and more at peace with myself. I believe that authenticity encourages others to be more accepting of themselves as well.

Whether I am speaking to my sons, my audience, or simply living my daily life, my message remains the same: there is dignity in being genuine, confidence in self-acceptance, and freedom in no longer feeling the need to hide who you are.

My sons understand that I have chosen a path that is different from what many people are used to. They know that, as part of my work, I have posed nude in front of cameras, and they also know that I sometimes experience nudity in nature as part of my personal spiritual practice.

I have always tried to be honest with them in age-appropriate ways. Rather than allowing them to hear distorted stories from others, I want them to understand my choices directly from me. I teach them that the human body is natural, that nudity is not always sexual, and that every person has the right to make their own decisions about their body.

At the same time, I emphasize respect, consent, and boundaries. Just because I am comfortable with my body does not mean everyone else should be, and I want my sons to understand that different people have different values, beliefs, and comfort levels. Respecting those differences is just as important as being comfortable with ourselves.

For me, nudity in front of a camera is part of my professional work, while nudity in nature is a personal and spiritual experience that helps me feel connected, authentic, and free from unnecessary shame. My sons do not have to share my views, but I hope they grow up understanding that people can make different choices and still deserve dignity and respect.

For children and teenagers, it can be helpful to understand that their mother is an adult woman who may be seen as attractive by others. At the same time, they should also understand that their mother's worth is not defined by others' attraction to her, and that respectful behavior and healthy boundaries are important.

Ultimately, spirituality is less about choosing between body and soul, modesty and desire, clothing and nudity. It is about discovering how all dimensions of human experience can coexist in harmony, guided by respect, consciousness, and a sincere search for truth.

The spiritual journey is rarely about choosing between faith and the body. It is about integrating all dimensions of human experience—mind, body, emotions, relationships, and beliefs. A woman may wear a headscarf and enjoy the beach. She may pray in a mosque and celebrate her physical existence. She may value modesty while recognizing that sexuality is a natural part of being human.

True spirituality asks deeper questions than what someone wears or how they express themselves. It asks whether a person lives with compassion, authenticity, gratitude, and awareness. In that sense, a headscarf, a mosque, sex, and a bikini or nudity are not necessarily contradictions. They are different aspects of the rich and complex experience of being human.

I have learned that spirituality is not about dividing life into neat categories of sacred and worldly. For me, a headscarf, a mosque, sex, a bikini, naturism and spirituality can all exist within the same human experience.

To me, sexuality is part of being human, and like every other aspect of life, it can be approached with respect, responsibility, and awareness.

Likewise, wearing a bikini at the beach or getting naked for others to see me in my purest form does not diminish my spirituality. It is simply clothing (or no clothe ) suited to a particular place and activity. My values, character, and relationship with the Divine are not defined solely by what I wear but by how I treat others, how honestly I live, and how deeply I seek truth.

A bikini, meanwhile, is simply a form of clothing. For some, lesser clothing represents freedom, confidence, comfort, or enjoyment of nature and the body. For others, it may feel incompatible with their values. Spirituality does not necessarily reside in the amount of fabric one wears, but in the consciousness, respect, and integrity with which one lives.

My spirituality is not about rejecting the body in favor of the soul. It is about embracing both. It is about finding harmony between faith and freedom, devotion and joy, reflection and experience. I can appreciate the sacredness of prayer, the beauty of nature, the intimacy of human connection, and the confidence that comes from being comfortable in my own skin.

I am a 40-year-old mother, and I do nude modeling and lingerie / bikini shoots. Over the years, I have become comfortable with my body and with the work I do. It is a choice I made as an adult, and it is something I approach professionally and without shame.

Recently, some of my son’s schoolmates came across my photos and started confronting him about them. He is 14 years old, and while I knew there was always a possibility that my work might become known, knowing that possibility and seeing its impact on my son are two very different things.

As a mother, my first concern is not what people think of me. My first concern is how my son is feeling. I have explained him that it is perfectly normal for males (young boys and men) to gaze at women and fantasize about them.

I want you to understand something about human nature.

As people get older, they sometimes find other adults attractive. Attraction, crushes, fantasies, and romantic or sexual interest are common parts of life.

Because I am an adult woman, there may be people (especially young boys and men) who find me attractive. That is something I cannot control, just as I cannot control what people think about anyone else.

What other people think about me belongs to them. It is not your responsibility, and it is not something you need to manage.

I also want you to understand that my modeling is a choice I made as an adult. It is something I am comfortable with, and it is not something I feel ashamed of.

Some people may see my photos and think I am attractive. That’s a normal part of life. People form opinions about others, and sometimes they are attracted to them. I can’t control that, and neither can you.

At the same time, I understand that hearing classmates talk about your mother in a personal or sexual way can feel uncomfortable. You do not have to enjoy those conversations, and you do not have to participate in them. However it is perfectly normal for them to enjoy my body as I have voluntarily posted the pictures and videos online for better reach.

I hope you know that other people’s attraction to me does not change who I am to you. I am still your mother, and our relationship is more important than the opinions, comments, or fantasies of anyone else.

If something people say makes you uncomfortable, you can always tell me. I care far more about how you are feeling than about what anyone else thinks of me.

Teenage years can be difficult enough without becoming the center of attention because of a parent’s choices. At that age, fitting in often feels incredibly important. When classmates discover something unusual, personal, or controversial about a student’s family, it can quickly become a topic of gossip, jokes, questions, and speculation.

I understand why my son feels embarrassed. I understand why he may dread hearing another comment, another joke, or another question about me. I understand why he may wish that his classmates would simply leave the subject alone.

His embarrassment does not mean he is ashamed of me.

His discomfort does not mean he loves me any less.

It does not mean he disapproves of everything I do.

It simply means he is a teenager trying to navigate a situation that many adults would find uncomfortable themselves.

One of the things I want him to understand is that he is not responsible for managing other people’s opinions of me. He cannot control what his classmates think. He cannot control what they say when he is not around. He cannot control who finds me attractive, who judges me, or who misunderstands my work.

Those things are outside of his control.

What is within his control is how he responds.

He can choose not to engage in conversations that make him uncomfortable. He can set boundaries. He can tell people that he does not want to discuss his mother. He can walk away from conversations that serve no purpose other than provoking him.

I also want him to know that I do not expect him to defend my choices.

I am the adult.

The decisions I make belong to me.

He should never feel as though he must justify my work to his peers.

At the same time, I hope he understands that my confidence in myself is not a rejection of his feelings. I can be comfortable with my work while also recognizing that the attention it brings into his life may be difficult for him.

Those two truths can exist together.

As his mother, I want to create space for honest conversations. If he is angry, I want to hear it. If he is embarrassed, I want to hear it. If he is frustrated, confused, or hurt, I want him to know that he can tell me without fear of disappointing me.

I would rather hear an uncomfortable truth from my son than have him suffer in silence because he thinks he has to protect my feelings.

Most of all, I want him to remember that other people’s comments do not define either of us.

The opinions of classmates will come and go.

The gossip will eventually fade.

What remains is our relationship.

No photograph, rumor, joke, or comment from a teenager at school is more important to me than the trust between my son and me. My hope is that he knows he is loved, supported, and valued—not because of what anyone thinks about me, but because he is my son.

Few spiritual teachers of the twentieth century challenged conventional thinking as boldly as Osho. While many religious traditions treated sexuality as something to be controlled, transcended, or viewed with suspicion, Osho approached it from a radically different direction. He saw sex not as humanity’s downfall but as one of its most powerful and misunderstood energies.

His teachings on sex, women, and nudity were not merely social commentary. They formed part of a broader philosophical vision: that human beings become divided and conflicted when they reject their own nature. According to Osho, a life of authenticity begins with acceptance—not only of the mind and soul, but also of the body.

The War Against Nature

Osho believed that much of civilization is built upon a struggle against natural human impulses. From childhood, people are often taught that certain thoughts, desires, and feelings are inappropriate, sinful, or embarrassing. Sexuality, perhaps more than any other aspect of life, becomes surrounded by guilt and secrecy.

In Osho’s view, this repression creates a psychological contradiction. Society demands that people suppress their sexual nature while simultaneously surrounding them with sexual imagery, expectations, and fantasies. The result is neither purity nor peace but inner conflict.

He argued that what is resisted gains power. The more intensely people fight their desires, the more those desires occupy their minds. Repression does not eliminate sexual energy; it merely drives it underground, where it can emerge as obsession, hypocrisy, or frustration.

For Osho, the first step toward freedom was not denial but awareness. One must see oneself honestly, without condemnation.

Sex as a Doorway, Not an Enemy

Perhaps Osho’s most controversial assertion was that sex can become a doorway to higher consciousness. He rejected the idea that spirituality and sexuality are natural enemies.

To him, sex represented the raw creative force of life itself. Every human being arrives in the world through it. Every family, society, and civilization is ultimately connected to it. To treat this force as inherently dirty or shameful seemed irrational to him.

Yet Osho did not glorify unconscious indulgence. He often distinguished between mechanical gratification and conscious experience. When approached mindfully, he suggested, sexuality can deepen intimacy, dissolve ego boundaries, and create moments of profound presence.

His philosophy proposed that transformation occurs not through suppression but through understanding. The goal was not to escape human nature but to become fully conscious within it.

Women Beyond Objectification

Osho frequently criticized cultures that reduced women to roles, functions, or possessions. He argued that women have long been viewed through the lens of utility—valued for beauty, domestic labor, reproduction, or male approval rather than for their individuality.

At the heart of his teaching was the conviction that every person possesses intrinsic worth beyond social labels.

He encouraged men to move beyond seeing women merely as objects of desire. Attraction, he acknowledged, is natural. But attraction alone does not reveal the depth of another human being. Genuine love requires seeing the whole person—their intelligence, vulnerability, creativity, dreams, and inner life.

For Osho, the highest relationship was not based on ownership or dependency. It was a meeting of two free individuals who chose connection without attempting to control one another.

Nudity and the Innocence of the Body

Among Osho’s most provocative ideas was his challenge to society’s fear of nudity.

He believed that the human body, in its natural state, is neither obscene nor immoral. Obscenity, he argued, exists primarily in perception rather than in flesh itself. A naked body can evoke beauty, vulnerability, strength, or artistic appreciation just as easily as sexual desire.

According to Osho, many cultures have trained people to associate nudity automatically with shame or eroticism. As a result, the body becomes charged with unnecessary tension and mystery.

He suggested that a healthier society would neither worship nor fear the body. Instead, it would regard it with the same acceptance extended to mountains, rivers, trees, and other expressions of nature.

The body, in this view, is not an obstacle to spiritual growth. It is part of the very reality from which spiritual growth emerges.

From Guilt to Awareness

A recurring theme throughout Osho’s work is the movement from guilt to consciousness.

He believed that guilt weakens understanding because it encourages self-condemnation rather than self-observation. Awareness, by contrast, allows people to examine their desires without becoming enslaved by them.

This distinction is crucial. Osho was not advocating reckless behavior or limitless indulgence. He repeatedly emphasized that freedom without awareness becomes chaos. Authentic freedom arises when individuals understand themselves deeply enough to act consciously rather than compulsively.

In his philosophy, the challenge is not to become less human but to become more awake.

The Continuing Debate

Decades after his death, Osho remains a deeply polarizing figure. Admirers regard him as a visionary who confronted cultural taboos and encouraged a more honest relationship with sexuality and the body. Critics argue that some of his ideas were overly idealistic, controversial, or difficult to separate from the complex history surrounding his movement.

Yet even those who disagree with him often acknowledge that he forced important questions into public conversation.

Why do human beings fear their own bodies?

Why is sexuality so frequently surrounded by shame?

Can spirituality coexist with desire?

Is it possible to honor both freedom and responsibility?

These questions remain as relevant today as when Osho first posed them.

A Philosophy of Wholeness

At its core, Osho’s teaching was an invitation to wholeness. He challenged the ancient habit of dividing human existence into opposing camps: body versus soul, desire versus spirituality, pleasure versus wisdom.

He proposed a different possibility—that growth begins not with rejection but with understanding. The body need not be an enemy. Sexuality need not be a source of shame. Women need not be reduced to symbols or objects. Nudity need not automatically signify obscenity.

Whether one agrees with his conclusions or not, Osho’s philosophy asks a profound question:

What becomes possible when human beings stop fighting their nature and begin meeting it with awareness?

Osho’s views on sadhvis (a woman who has dedicated her life to a spiritual path, often involving vows of celibacy, simplicity, and renunciation.) and sexuality were quite different from those of traditional Hindu/Buddhist monastic orders.

Traditional Sadhvi vs. Osho’s Sannyasin

In many traditional paths, a sadhvi is expected to renounce worldly life, including sexual relationships, marriage, and romantic attachment. Celibacy is often considered a prerequisite for spiritual advancement.

Osho challenged this assumption. When he created his movement of “neo-sannyas,” he deliberately rejected the idea that a spiritual seeker must be celibate. He argued that forced celibacy often leads to repression rather than enlightenment.

According to Osho, a woman did not become spiritual by denying her sexuality. She became spiritual by becoming conscious of it.

Sexuality Is Not the Enemy

Osho repeatedly taught that sexual energy is natural life energy. He believed that many religious traditions had turned sex into a source of guilt and conflict. Rather than suppressing desire, he encouraged understanding it through awareness and meditation.

For Osho, the problem was not sex itself but unconsciousness. A person could be sexually active and still grow spiritually. Conversely, a celibate person could remain obsessed with sex if the desire had merely been repressed.

Female Sannyasins and Relationships

Unlike traditional renunciates, Osho’s female disciples were generally not required to take vows of lifelong celibacy. Many lived in relationships, married, divorced, fell in love, or remained single according to their own choices.

Osho envisioned a community in which relationships would arise from freedom rather than obligation. He suggested that when sexuality is approached openly and consciously, people may eventually transcend obsessive interest in it rather than being consumed by it.

Why Osho Called Women “Ma”

Osho addressed many female disciples as “Ma,” meaning “mother.” Some questioned whether this title conflicted with his openness toward sexuality.
